Fuck right off. That was such a soulless first person shooter. None of the abilities were particularly useful and none of the gameplay was very challenging or demanded much from the player. It was such a waste of time to play through. The last mission was a little interesting and considering how crap the story is, they might as well go to fucking outer space while they're at it. The multiplayer seemed neat but I never bothered with it. Maybe fans of the franchise would like it but it's the only Crysis game I played and I did not enjoy it.

I didn't and I kept up with the story just fine. There's a moment where numbers are randomly floating around the screen which is a callback to BO1, as well as a few other little references. Overall, though, you can just jump right into BO2. Same goes for BO3, which has some references to 2 but are, again, minor and non-intrusive.

The real question, though, is whether or not you should play any of these games in the first place. I can't really recommend them. Compared to the rest of the franchise they have phenomenal campaigns, especially BO2 and 3, but on their own merits they're just ok. If you want an laid back first person shooter campaign then yeah, BO2 and 3 are alright. Advanced Warfare was ok too. But really, there are other FPS games that are more worth it, like Doom, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, or Deus Ex. Hell, I'd recommend Turok and TimeSplitters over all of those games, although they're a bit archaic now.

It could outperform niche titans and perform well in both pilot and NPC rich environments due to the high rate of splash damage, particle wall to trivialise damage incoming from one direction and projectiles that hit like a truck while also being the size of one.

The core also had (still has?) a ridiculous amount of DPS and ease of use compared to others, and I don't blame people for being salty that this one core was so much better than others at killing a titan from full health on top of all the other functions it had.

I liked T2's campaign but I would improve it by removing the mech piloting sections and instead have the mech fighting by your side more often with more interactions like riding on top or aimed throws, possibly a basic command system but I'd like the mech to remain mostly autonomous. Larger environments, more enemy variety, less playable cutscenes, and less reliance on scripted events would all be nice too.

Not an amazingly great campaign but very enjoyable and blows the average cinematic corridor shootan out of the water.
