Use caps, the rubber on the early ones is really crappy.

awful battery life and it is the only controller ive ever had that starts falling apart from normal use
honestly the worst controller for a console ive ever owned, fitting for the worst console ive ever owned

You can only blame yourselves.

Stop sperging at your controller. My launch controller doesn't look like this.

lol what, i literally still have my launch dualshock (although I use a newer one cause batterylife) and it still has perfectly fine sticks

Don't be a fool. Truly you're not suggesting that if I play with the control, it gets destroyed? Just doesn't happen.

>>387415706
I can't imagine what you're doing. Do you play really intensive fighting games and push on the sticks with all your might?
>>

This happened to the one I got with the console, but my newer one hasn't had this problem after three years of fairly extensive use.

>>387415828
This is a known fault in the controllers, Sony addressed it with the new ones.
>>
>>387415202
I have 600+ hours in bloodborne, 250+ in let it die, platted nioh and play a whole bunch of other shit without being even close to this.
It looks like you fucking bit it off so you could shitpost here about it. What's wrong with you?
I mean jesus, if that's not a bite mark than what the fuck is it?
>>
>>387416015
A known fault for autistic children maybe. Treat your things better, is all I'm saying. Treat it as a lifehack.
>>
>>387416161
Rubber wears out. Deal with it. Dont be a dumb ass. DS3-4 both have terrible joystick designs. Everyone should do themselves a favor and replace them with better ones. Buy some xbox one joysticks off amazon. Be happy with superior comfort.
>>
>>387415828
It's all just Nintendo smear campaign since they can't compete with Sony on a hardware and software level, they make up lies so people would reconsider when choosing a console. I had my controller for over 2 years, I've abused it, I've thrown it, dropped it, stepped on it and not only does it still work flawlessly, it doesn't even have a single scratch on it. It's just one of many lies a large inferior company makes up in order to attempt to compete. My favourite is the last one they came up with, the PS4 attracts cockroaches. It doesn't even make sense, but they're desperate I guess, gotta try everything they can.
>>
>>387416427
Too cheap to buy replacement sticks? Just peel the rubber off, its better without it anyway.
>>
>>387416427
I've played for hundered of hours and the only thing wrong with the joysticks are that they are slightly looser. When I played xbox 360 the joysticks would get really loose, off center, and wouldn't register very well while pushing them in a certain directions.

It's between that, the Switch Pro and the Wii U Pro controller for me.

playstation controllers have always been the worst of the generation. Not that everything is bad about them. the rechargeable battery in the ps3 and ps4 controllers is far better than AAs and the pairing by connecting a usb cable is good, but the controller themselves are dreadful.
The ps4 one is the best playstation controller, but fuck me they phoned it in on the build quality. And the fucking touchpad is braindead retarded.
>>
>>387416538
Actually senpai, I live in a pre-war NYC building. Beautiful renovated apartment, but if you don't set traps near them, during the humid seasons they WILL get in your PS4.

But my controllers have always been pristine. You sound crazy.
>>
>>387415202
Stop moving the analog with your finger nails or cut your damn nails.
I've had my same two ps4 controllers for nearly 4 years now and I have yet to rip that shit off the analog.
>>
>>387416427
>Rubber wears out. Deal with it. Dont be a dumb ass.
I played over a 1000 hours on my piss4 with it, and it's as good as new. Not too mention the hundreds of hours I used it on my peecee, at least 300 (50+ from hollow knight, 50+ risk of rain, 100+ dark souls, 80+ dark souls 3, 50+ enter the gungeon, 30+ metal gear rising. Bought it on fucking launch day too. You know you're not supposed to put it in your mouth right?
This all still doesn't answer my question, what the fuck is that mark? Was I right when I assumed it was a teeth mark from biting that shit off?
I have no fucking clue how that shit could happen naturally, you fucking bit it off, end of discussion.
>>
>>387415202

Steam Controller+WiiU Pro is the masterrace and you retards still try to push the Xbone controller (god help me sometimes even the fucking ELITE), the DS4, and the Switch Pro because they're readily available and conform to your brand loyalties.

/v/ might have the most retarded opinions about controllers out of any gaming forum on the internet. WiiU Pro is far and away the best traditional controller design and the Steam Controller is god tier which you'd know if you didn't get your opinions from youtubers. WiiU pro is for falling back on when the Steam Controller won't work well for something like a 2D game.

>>387418409

Stop being an idiot. Have you ever looked into this issue beyond this thread? Anyone that has had this problem with their DS4, its always on the left stick. Its wear and tear on the material they used. Didnt happen to you? Great, keep on using your controller. Be happy. For anyone this does happen to, buy replacement sticks of better quality. DS4 sticks are gross, the material is just plain uncomfortable.

If anything aim assist only makes it harder. Also, it's much easier to aim with a m/kb than with a controller with aim assist.

The only fps I play is BF4 and hacks were ruining it for me on PC so I got it on PS4 and never went back. Also, the servers are more populated. Both platforms are filled with shitters though but it's still fun to play specially when there are no hackers around shooting through the walls.

I actually like controllers that use AA batteries. They are dirt cheap and when they go dead I just pop in a new set instead of chaining the controller to a USB cable while it charges.

I don't have to worry about replacing a built in battery either, but that's normally pretty easy to do with controllers.

The first batch of DS4 controllers have this as a common problem actually. Apparently the rubber they used was poorly tested in order to meet the launch date without being low on stock, so even though it wasn't as big a deal on launch it's certainly becoming a common problem now that the years have gone by and the rubber is finally giving out.
The DS2 had a similar problem where if the rubber on the analog sticks had even the slightest contact with moisture (or if your room wasn't bone dry), it would ooze out slime as the rubber began to slowly dissolve.

Light Bar

Not him, but I prefer the DS4 triggers to the Xbone Elite triggers. Can't comment on the original Xbone's, but I can't help but imagine that they are similar.
>>
>>387421150

Why would I do that when a regular set of headphones plugged directly into my controller will work just fine? Also, Bluetooth for audio is just about the worst thing you could do to your ears matey.
>>
>>387420673
Reminds me of the logitec chilstream and the fan I never used because my hands went numb.
Overall the controller was shit. Left thumbstick was getting stuck on the edges, triggers were too hard to press and buttons were trash.

Thats a third party xbone controller. Shhh.

was on sale for $15. I bought it to replace my 360 pad after it stopped responding. lesson learned.

The only gripe I had about the Airflo was when playing Vice City, it was difficult to pull off cheats that required rotating the joypad in a full circle. For whatever reason, it would get hung up on the bottom left corner.

Didn't play fighting games, but I imagine that it could be a problem for that, too.

How do people do ANYTHING on these things?
I guess aim assist really is needed, but i can barely face in a 90° angle from the thing i want to hit

Literally everyhing about this controller is awful. It feels cheap and flimsy as shit. It has an annoying lifebar that glows in the dark and reflects on the TV screen. 50% of it is taken up by a useless gimmick touchpad. The ends of it are juts two dildos. Sony is so fucking bad at hardware I swear.

>80 hours battery life

>Buying a $10 adapter makes it work flawlessly with x-input and d-input

You can't prove this isn't the best controller ever made.

It's not as loud as the DS3. So that's a plus I guess. And it's bigger.

The touchpad and the LED just screams of suits in a board meeting deciding that this hot new shit should be on it.
>>
>>387421605
i like the controller. it's very good. except those share and options buttons. those were horrible thing to do. oh well at least the touchpad is used as a start button in most games. you can just slam it down at full force and be like LET'S START THIS MOTHERFUCKER

DS4
>share and options buttons are shit if you have anything besides babby or gook hands
>USB port at the top isnt great, doesnt plug in reliably and wiggles out
>fucking garbage battery life
>touchpad could have been cool if any game actually used it
>led does not need to be as big or as bright as it is
>shit triggers
Xbone
>usb port is pretty shit too
>syncing is a pain in the ass unlike ds4
>the fucking dpad
>bumpers are still shit
>seem to drop connection more than ds4

xbone is better desu. havent used the wiiu pro or whatever it is to compare that tho, but i have used the steam controller and that thing is definitely worse than all of the above. more buttons and more customisable, but the touchpad instead of a second stick and face button placement is shitty. also the buttons on the handles are a bit too sensitive, found myself pressing them by accident all too much

To be fair, that's more a criticism of Micro USB. Literally everything with Micro USB sucks. I'd take a fucking lightning cable over it (and I'm not singing any praises over Lightning). They should never have abandoned Mini USB for Micro.

My DS4 has issues with it's deadzones that I can't seem to fix, but other than that I guess it's okay. It's getting to a point where it's also loose enough to always be moving too though. So I have to actively hold it in a neutral position.
>>
>>387422869
why did they abandon it? speed reasons? cheaper production cost?
>>
>>387422949
Fuck if I know. If I had to guess, to compete with Lightning. Pretty fucking telling how quick they rolled out USB-C, though. I mean, think about how long Mini stuck around (at least a decade), and then compare it to Micro (dropped it as soon as they could). Micro is probably one of the absolute worst standards ever adopted.
>>
>>387421596
I did not.
What should i aim for ideally?
I would guess swimming in molasses
>>
>>387423129
If its too sensitive, crank it down. If lowest doesn't work, adjust from there.

Is the battery that bad? Just got a PS4 and I can play all day with plenty to spare using audio passthrough most of the time. Maybe I just have low expectations but that's good enough for me.

>>387423328
>>
>>387422949
Maybe. Micro is more fragile than glass. Half of the ports suck, too. You can never tell at a quick glance how to insert it, so you try putting it in backwards, and the ports wind up getting pushed in (and I'm NOT pushing them in all that hard, because I KNOW there's a good chance I'm putting them in backwards).

Micro never should have happened.
>>
>>387415202
My 360 gamepad I got for my pc just recently did that. Is there a way to salvage it?
>>
>>387423396
Battery's always been pretty good for me. My launch ds4 is only just now starting to lose it's rubber, and the battery still lasts a good 4-5 hours before it gets to 1 bar, then it still lasts another hour and a half before it fully dies. Is it the best ever? No, but if I'm playing for 6 and a half hours, chances are I'm getting up for a few minutes at some point and can plug it back in.
>>
>>387423524
Yeah. Buy new joystick covers.

I literally have a Pisen USB thing for my Vita to charge while playing without needing the power brick. Works for the DS4's too, so I just have a Micro cord plugged into it, always ready to go.

Kinda sucks that you have to buy a 4 dollar accessory on Amazon to get it to charge from a normal USB port, but if it works, then I'm fine with it.
>>
>>387423714
What? I mean I use an OLED vita cause LCD looks like someone pissed on the screen then covered it with glass, but my DS4 has no problems charging from a regular USB port. I just throw it in my phone charger brick, voltages match up, it charges just dandy. Or use it on my PC.
>>
>>387415540
I got a puppy when my PS3 was kind of new and it would gnaw on the sticks.
>>
I like the feel of the controller, but it's flimsy. Any considerable amount of usage will see it start falling apart. I have 360 controllers that are still fine after years of sustained use.

Don't have that problem. Then again I'm a super careful anal retentive panty-waist carebear faggot. But you're onto something, the Dualshock 4 would be the ultimate controller if not for the horrendeous sin against god placement of the Start/Select- oops sorry meant OPTIONS/SHARE buttons.
>>
>>387426891
Share isn't select though, if you connect the ds4 to a ps3 it's the touchpad that functions as your select button.

Just get a controller skin the sticks just rub on the soft rubber that flexes so I guess it prolongs the lifespan . I bought it as soon as I got the controller so I don't have any experience with Long use without one. I just have problems with the connection port for when I use it on PC either the port is too lose or the connector is faulty. The charging port is a cake walk to replace and is relatively cheap but it's an annoyance it is such a fragile component.
>>
>>387415202

How do you think the audio gets from the console to the controller retard?
