ITT: The best games with destructible enviroments.

It's a shame that so few games implement this good. The ability to destroy the level is 1000 times more inmersive than nice graphics.

I'll start with WiC. Some of the best map obliteration I've ever seen. The lack of sequel give me nightmares.
>>
Bad Company and its sequel were the tits, too. And they are the proof that the destruction do not require a lot of hardware, because they had this amazing annihilation of levels back in PS3.

CoD on the other hand never got anyhing comparable. Maybe breakable windows.
>>
Red Faction 1 and 2 (never played Guerrilla) are very interesting ones. The Geomod was awesome, and it was for PS2.

Red Faction Guerrilla.

I am continuing my monologue.

Mercenaries PoD has very good destructible buildings but it's not permanent. I have killed innumerable north korean digital families inside of their polygonal houses. Good times.
>>
>>387412650

Holy Fuck. How is the rest of the game?

Really? I thought it was a xcom style of destruction.
>>
>>387412832
Decent. There's a lot of very nice weapons and vehicles, the missions are mostly based around destruction which is no surprise. The only slightly irritating thing about it is that it's one of those "always wanted" games where there's always some fucker trying to kill you when you just want to fuck around and destroy things, but there are mods to keep the alert meter on green so you can do whatever in peace. The sledgehammer is an extremely fun weapon and it feels great to bring a structure down with it.
>>
>>387413012
All the houses and shit go down dynamically.
>>
>>387413012
>>387413186
You can destroy about everything, except support. You can "strip" building all way down to frame, but it will never collapse.
Driving cars through buildings full of people is fun, though
>>
>>387413429
Oh. My bad. I didn't notice that.

WiC was really a masterpiece.
The way off map support was handled was brilliant and rewarding.

ace of spades/open spades

If you want to crank it up to eleven, try No Hope Mod.
>>
>>387413123
hows the modding scene? always thought this game would be great for projects but havent seen much output
>>
>>387413429

I hate that in the first Bad Company. The beams the stairs and the floor beeing there without walls made it seems like a construction site more than field of battle.

>>387413568

Shitty game

this

silent storm great game, and the destructible environments make it even better.
>>
>>387413552
Still makes me mad that that game ultimately failed because of shit publishers. MP was really fun.
>>
>>387417297

A lot of people say that wargame is the espiritual sequel, but it doesn't come even close.

Crackdown 3

lol

I like wargame but its much, much slower paced. What made WiC great in my opinion was the whole forced cooperation between players, and games were very dynamic and fast. Each round lasted 20min max IIRC.
>>
>>387418028

Yep. Less units made it faster. The campaing vas god tier too.

>>387412650
Blows my mind to this day.

Crysis.

The destructible environments was icing on a great cake. The powers, ai, and gunplay were close to perfected. The only thing I didn't really care for was the story.
>>
It's a bit limited but I greatly enjoyed blowing things up in Just Cause 3
>>
CoH2 has the most satisfying building crunches. Also demo charges.

EDF, seeing an entire city get flattened over the course of a mission is a nice feeling
>>
>>387412650
GOAT game and it maxed out on a q6600/gtx560
>>387421167
it's really nice if a bit cheap feeling.

>tfw you save the city by destroying it first
>>
>>387421167

True, but it feels a little surreal. Buldings are like toys. Add some cratters and different patterns of ruins and ti would be gold.
>>
Another game that I like its destuction is Brigador. Reminds me of Future Cop LAPD.
