Toys-To-Life is quickly dying out. Amiibo is safe these days because they're being marketed more as collectable figures than the next big game gimmick, and they've got good properties to go with. Microsoft and Sony know that they can't compete with that.

It's unlikely to be worth it. Disney Infinity and Skylanders lost pretty hard to Amiibos. I think part of the key is making the toys compatible across multiple titles but still, trying to jump in now might not be financially wise.

Nintendo has so much franchise strength to have their own theme park.

Sony and Microsoft are tech companies that also make videogames and see videogames as that. Nintendo on the other hand sees itself as a toy company which is why they are much more focused on a younger audience and hence why they make toys for them.
