It is the best Elder Scrolls. Its the best middle ground between the content rich RPG Daggerfall and the shallow dungeon crawler Skyrim. Far from perfect though. Every time Bethesda would try and fix one issue in Morrowind they'd scale back on the things it did well.

Morrowind offers player agency better than any Elder Scrolls title after it. The compass WAS a mistake that has whittled away the engagement of quests since they brought it back in Oblivion. Give me a game with Morrowind's quest log (obviously with tracking and sorting improvements) and Oblivion's quest design, Morrowind's level scaling and background writing, with Skyrim's presentation. NO RADIANT QUESTS.

That would be the perfect Elder Scrolls.
