Since PlayStation All-Stars 2 is getting a sequel with characters

Since PlayStation All-Stars 2 is getting a sequel with characters like

And the stages are

Game is being developed by GameArts and will now have life bars and one super meter.

Game will be revealed in October with a CG trailer that has Kratos, Morgana, Crash, and Aloy.

Game Arts are working to fit in roughly about 32 characters and 24 stages into the game. The demo is almost complete, with the 9 characters for the demo still being balanced out. There's a possibility that we could also be seeing Lammy, Dante and Klonoa in this game. The art style is actually pretty unified, like sm4sh in a way. Parappa this time actually looks more natural than whatever happened to him in the first game.

PS4 Pro seems to upscale the game to a proper 4K. The game already runs at 60fps on all PS4s. The game still has a super meter, but only does what would be level 3. Since this game has life bars, it will be more like special attacks in regular fighting games.

Morgana's moveset.

Morgana has his sword as a melee weapon, his slingshot as a long range, can transform into a van similar to Wario's side B motorcycle in smash, and also has his Persona attacks.

For his special attack, if you're able to catch a character in your distance as you activate it, The Phantom Thieves hold them at gunpoint. The player caught in this attack has to either give up a life and give it to Morgana, or suffer an all out attack from The Phantom Thieves.

Crash's moveset

Crash is a mixed bag. He uses classic movies from the original games, but also has combat from Crash of the Titans/Crash Mind Over Mutant. Is standard attacks consist of his Crash of the Titans combat, whilst his specials are classic Crash moves like spinning, ground pound, sliding and fruit bazooka.

When Crash gets his special attack, he gains the Aku Aku mask. Running into enemies gives them tons of damage and knock back, and Crash is invincible in this state.

Mementos is a train platofrm area set in Mementos, but has platforms and has two train tracks, with a train passing through as a hazard once in a while. (Replaced with Wipeout tracks when crossover happens)

The UI is pretty much the same as the first game, only the super bar is smaller and below the health bar which is bigger. When a character has their special, they will have a more aggressive looking portrait with flames around it. Some other Ui stuff include chat boxes from Persona 5 in the Mementos stage when stuff happens, and during Morgana's special attack.

The music playing in Mementos was an instrumental recreation of Last Surprise, and the Wipeout music was a remix of the one of the tracks from the original. Both remixes done by Atlus


Those custom options will be in the game, as expected. The winner of the match was Crash, and he performed his victory dance whilst the others clapped in the background. The match was stock with time, and lasted around 4 minutes.

Mementos stage

The stage has two train platforms with two train tracks, along with some platforms above them. Trains come by every so often and can deal a bit of damage. The stage has its own UI elements, being The Phantom Thieves talking about the battle that is underway. The dialogue will be varied depending if Morgana is in the battle, who is going up against who, the stage transitioning to WipeOut, etc.

The transition is similar to the Heavenly Sword stage from the first game, where a WipeOut track is being built and every so often the vehicles come speeding by. The WipeOut tracks take over the train tracks, and touching the tracks will cause you to be stunned.

Online play will have all the modes of the previous games, along with some sort of clan mode.

Yeah, combos do get weaker over time. When characters die, the screen will freeze for a millisecond with a bang noise and the character will fall down and fade into PlayStation button icons.

I had a ton of fun playing him and picked him often though he wasn't even my main, and he was plenty usable if you mastered his stances. He wasn't high or anything but he has way more options and stronger options at that than a lot of the lower characters. His only real problems are short range, having to choose between AP and utility (though kung fu stance had some real ass hitboxes) and bad supers.

Was unbalanced since the only way to win was with a super movement. This system only has a one variable (the time to have a super move) and you can not balance without all the characters look the same. Take for example sm4sh, here each character has a minimum and maximum unique speed, jump and double jump, weight and other variables that determine the mobility of the character and how it can interact with their environment. This is extremely important since it defines how you can attack an enemy and how you must defend yourself. In PSASBR these variables are equal in all the characters because they are irrelevant to execute a super movement. Just look how sm4sh you have strategies to escape from a combo, return to a platform or use different maneuvers to deceive your enemy. In PSASBR you do not have anything like it and if you get caught in a combo you can not do anything. That is why the kill confirm killed the PSASBR competitive scene because it unbalanced the game even more because some characters could perform them and because it lost all the risk factor benefit factor that was supposed to bring this system. Thanks to it all the battles were to see who is the first one that executes a movement to catch the opponent in a kill confirm and this made it very predictable and boring.

Why did you type so much when all it amounted to was "I know about all of the mechanics in Smash but absolutely nothing about PSASBR"? I don't even know what to tackle first here, I mean do you really think the only part of how to play it is pressing the super button? Are you really going to disregard how the characters all have their own minimum/maximum move speeds, jumps and so on, as well as a full movelist that must be utilized to both build meter for one of three radically different supers and land said supers? I can list the game terms too, and these too have a huge impact on how you should attack and defend yourself against an enemy, like risking approaching an enemy to use your stronger close range attacks when he's built up enough to use a level 1 super because you think he will instead try to build to level 2. That you're trying to say combos not letting you do anything is a big bad thing and should never be a bad thing is ludicrous, to say nothing of the heritage of combos and what they can offer in this game based on how the player ends them, there's still an interesting neutral game at play which only gains more levels with the super system. Kill confirms don't remove that factor either, since it doesn't replace the inherent risk of having to build to that super level and land that attack, which can be unsafe or difficult.
Some characters having kill confirms when others didn't was an issue of balance but again that is separate from the super system. Hypothetically, if Shiek can wrack up % really quickly, has a strong and easy to land smash, and can recover easily, does that make the blast zone mechanic entirely unbalanced and unsalvagable? Of course not. Besides that, and despite shitposting, this game plays very differently from Smash and needs a different mindset, one that it really looks like you lack as you're trying to make comparisons that just don't fly.

The large majority wrote the game off without even playing it or if they did they play for a very short time looking for shallow comparisons and to put it bluntly, doing it wrong. Hell I didn't particularly care about the game until I happened to play the online beta they held but I at least went into it with an open mind and happened to really enjoy the system and see how it worked perfectly. The issue was just the team can't balance characters for shit, or code a non-buggy game, or get any kind of budget for getting higher profile characters. All those problems can be, and sound like they will be fixed, but the super system doesn't have to be removed as well.

Most did, and to their credit the roster overall played very differently to each other (even those two), but they pulled specifically from the newest games for each character, which left some characters like Ratchet and especially Sir Dan out in the cold. Ratchet didn't have many of his older classic weapons and some of Sir Dan's look, personality and animations as well as the stage were based off of the shitty PSP remake. Then they made him slower because they had to have more heavy archetype characters in the game.

Look, I can state that the smash characters have all these variables since they are registered in database like smashboard. In contrast with PSASBR I can not find a record of how fast the characters are, what is the jump, what is the hitbox, what is the weight or other variables. The only thing I find is how much AP generates an attack and a combo. And yes, kill confirms killed the competitive scene because why I need to use a level 2 if you can do it with a level 1 in a 1vs1. There is no need to evaluate the risk / benefit for all, that's the problem. In smash you all the time are evaluating the risk/benefit because there are so many variables that you can sacrifice one in pro of another.
The fact that this game was never competitive even between the most sony fanboys gives me the reason especially when games even older as CTR are still played in retro tournaments and PSASBR no.

Yes it wasn't a popular game. That has nothing to do with supposed flaws with the super system but with how it was badly balanced, cheaply made and poorly advertised. Implying that it's not deep because there isn't much online information or documentation on the game (when this was also it's first release, compared to a very long running series) is even more ridiculous, and again a game's depth relies more on how the characters use the systems over the system itself. Kill confirms were a balance issue and I've already said the game was poorly balanced, which was one of the things that led to the scene's demise, but level 1 confirms were rare and almost all were patched out later in the game's life, the few remaining ones requiring difficult setups and/or being very unsafe if blocked. However even disregarding that, there is still a risk in aiming to go for the same confirm over and over, Sir Dan players know that all too well. This game has many unique and interesting variables of it's own that stem from the super system which you seem to just write off for no reason. The system itself simply needs a competent team behind it to take another shot, instead they're throwing the baby out with the bathwater because of people who complained they couldn't hold a conversation with it when they could speak to another family fine.

You can tell yourself that the idea was perfect, but the truth is that reality says something else. That no one played it in competition and that the kill confirms killed the community because they had characters like Kat, Kratos, Dante and raiden who have many kill confirms and characters that did not have any kill confirms like Sir Daniel, Sweet tooth, Fat Princess or rachet even after the patch shows it to me.
By the way, sony make a considerably investment in advertising for the game because doing these two commercials are not cheap.

Again, the competitive scene died down for many reasons, the super system itself was not one of them. You're trying to correlate two completely different things that have a very loose connection at best. Those commercials were the extent the game got as far as support from Sony is concerned which isn't really much, and the budget the game itself had was nonexistent. Also literally all four of those characters you posted had multiple kill confirms both before and after the patches. I'm not sure if you actually played this game at all.
