>Memory card doubles as a mini-Game Boy
>Displayed images or details on the screen while plugged into the controller
I doubt there's a chance we'll get anything like that again, but what a trip that was.

I liked its use in Sonic Shuffle the most. Shit was badass.

Wow, good non-sequitur, shill san.

I didn't play Sonic Shuffle. I think its more memorable applications were the Chao mini-games for Sonic Adventure 2 and the Cupil mini-games for Skies of Arcadia.

There was similar on the PS1. In fact, one of the "mini games" on it used for SaGa Frontier 2 would later be copied nearly 1:1 in Neptunia.

You're thinking of the Wii U.

My brand-new VMUs all died when they kept turning themselves back on, so I didn't really get to play any of those minigames.
In Sonic Shuffle, your cards are shown on the VMU. That's really it, but I thought it was novel.

It only does that if your battery is dead. Replace it you mongaloid.

It needed a watch battery which at the time was really expensive.

You also forgot one highly underrated feature. You could plug two VMUs together using the ports on them and trade save data.

I think you could do chao battles like that as well.

If you had VMU explorer, you could make your own custom images to display on the VMU. It was pretty neat to have a crudly drawn anime girl on it.
Dreamcast was such a great console lads
