Also while some cases do exist of companies suing for similar games its usually borderline ripoffs down to the mechanics and art design.
But this realy happens nowadays.
Imagine if Gears of war developer sued Massefect ot if bethesda sued borderlands.

Its an indie game.
All they would do is piss of fans and loose public image for attacking an indie dev regardless if they lost or won.
The game is not infringing on Sega's Copyright it only kinda looks like it this is not a Fan game that literally has the name of an existing IP like AM2R or Pokemon.

Also super fast running isnt a Sonic trademark many paltformers have it like modern Rayman even some Mario games.
