I think that it's retarded when games do this. "Oh hey you were so nice to decline a reward so here you go, I can at least give you my grandpa's butter knife which just so happens to be the Mythic Sword". It's metagaming most of the time and lends itself to most RPGs being painfully leaned towards Good paths. Bioware suffers from it the most:
>Good: I will save your kitty and accept no reward! Oh, you've got one for me anyway. Oh, it's an ancient scroll of protection from undead that you stole from your necromancer dad. How neat.
>Neutral: I will help ya, but for your lunch money. Hell yeah bitch, here's your cat, give me your 5 gold pieces.
>Evil: I will eat the cat in front of you for no reason but the evul lulz, and then kill you. Huh, you aren't carrying the Good reward scroll on you when you're killed, weird.

Usually the "decline reward" reward is some kind increase in relationship.

I always liked the balance is Mount and Blade because it usually a trade off between short term financial gain (Which can be pretty important early on) and long terms benefits from honor and village/lord relations.

Very. Sometimes self-awareness can be too much.
>all actions you take will be for your own gain
Sometimes I question my own actions for example: I'll wait on people or in in situations where I could just leave or decide otherwise, and I don't gain much other than mild irritation depending on how much time I've potentially wasted. This is a poor example though and I'm rambling. I just put other people before myself which is probably why I do that type of shit.

Name one game
>>
>>387320316
I wish more games would do this. It would make playing a moral fag a more difficult and interesting.

Shadowrun games are the only games that I can think of that do this. There's a few times in both Hong Kong and Dragonfall where taking the moral high ground gives you little to no reward or puts you in a more difficult situation.

That's such an exaggeration. It's just that you often make decisions on a whim or emotionally as opposed to rationally, the rationalization comes in later.
>>
>>387329638

When I was a kid there was two things I noticed about moralfag vs evil options

1. Evil option had more physical rewards, like money or loot. Good option was usually just XP.

2. The good option was usually more difficult. The evil one let you weaken the enemy before you fought or avoid a fight with an extremely powerful enemy.

These days there's no real difference.

Even when you feel a certain negative emotion you still have the ability to go through with something because it has a later pay off. Decisions ARE more emotional than rational, but the idea that rational thinking has no effect whatsoever on your decision making ability is in my opinion ridiculous.

The idea that free will doesn't exist is an excuse for laziness, because everything is predetermined anyway. Or so the rationalization goes.

People cry for many different reasons some selfish and some not. Maybe their life was cut short and they feel sorrow that they won't be able to live long fulfilling life. Emotions are complex and we can express them for selfish and unselfish reasons

It's selfish because you want to stop the suffering in your life. If you're giving it up to save someone else, it's stopping suffering to you and giving yourself some good feelings right before you die.

>Even when you feel a certain negative emotion you still have the ability to go through with something because it has a later pay off.
That's a good point. Still no free will, but a good point.
Thing with free will is that your belief in it or not doesn't matter. You'll play along either way. You can't really use it to make excuses for anything. Don't think there's anything wrong with laziness anyway.

Yeah, I've finished upgrading the fort and now I've got nothing to spend all that cash the game showers you with. NPC wants to sell me a trinket for 6000 cash. Okay. Then they move into the rich part of town and I still have too much cash.

It just doesn't end.
>>
>>387328579
I agree. Only person who should matter in your life, is yourself. Anyone who doesn't, isn't interested in improving themselves.

A completely meaningless observation. When compared with eternity, one day and a thousand years both lean towards nothing. Anything divided by infinite lean towards 0. Life leans towards 0% of what comes after death. In other words, how much you live mean absolutely jack shit if you stop existing forever eventually.

Not at all what that anon was trying to say. It's not about what our actions cause in the world. It's about the meaning of it for oneself. Without conscienceness, the aftermatch of all you did can mean nothing to you.
Maybe you should read more books besides cheap modern philosophy they focus on in college these days.

You can locagically understand how to apply its significance in a finite world.

We have been using infinity mathematically for a while now. That also implies using it for comparisons. I really don't follow you.

I don't mean to offend, but I get the feeling you just don't like thinking about some things that unsettles you and try to dismiss them.

First point was that since God is all knowing he should've known mankind would eat that shit and gain knowledge anyways. If he knew that it would happen and still got mad for it, there has to be a good reason for it. The reason being God wants us to evolve as species to take his place as the next god/gods.

I recently gave up on Christianity and any organized religion to just believing in a God.

It just seems off that in times we need Him most we're met with deafening silence. Where's before all sorts of answered were received and recorder in books? Just seems odd.

Why am I to trust man, who is subject to the ills of free will, on God's word. I'll find the truth someday.
