>Check trophies/achievements
>Only 25% of players have finished the game
Why is this so common?
>>
Because most games are shit in this generation.
>>
>>387316701
It might come as a surprise to you, but most normies rarely actually finish video games, even those they say they enjoyed.

In my case, I've bought quite a few games AFTER I finished them. To atone for my pirating youth.
And for some games, well, they legit just get too boring to finish in the end.
>>
>>387316701
It means publishers are getting better at marketing garbage to get people to buy their shit but not making the games good enough to be worth finishing.
>>
>>387316701
ADD
>>
Yourr statistics are exaggerated. In Dark Souls, 50% did not make it to the first bonfire. Basically most people buy steam games because they think they will play one day, but they will not.
>>
I only finish like 5% of the games I start, if that

Not many people finish games anymore.

Plus, people don't often sync their PlayStation trophies.

A lot of games make the achievements things that you can miss even after playing through the whole game>>387318545
>>
>>387318851
No I mean the actual trophy for finishing the game, which basically all games nowadays have
>>
>it sucks
>nobody plays it for the campaign
>they've all moved on to the next installment of the game
It's usually one of the 3
>>
>check Steins;Gate 0 trophies on ps4 out of curiosity
>only ~85% have the trophy for starting the game
How the hell have so many people started up the game then immediately quit without even hitting New Game? Genuinely mind blowing.
>>
>>387320808
Some people buy a game now and intend to play it later. Maybe they got it in a sale?
>>
>>387321038
Right but trophy stats only count people who have booted up the game. Those 15% don't include those who own it but haven't booted it up before. 15% went to the title screen then quit.
>>
>>387316701
Because people are not neets with infinite time on their hands.
After work i've got 2 hours free for vidya, and i have to make the choice to play a mindless online game, a game that i nearly finishedd but has started to drag on near the end, or a new fresh game that i've been dying to try

9 out 10 times it's the latter, don't get me wrong, i love finishing games, but i've also got finite time and there are just to many games coming out every week.
>>
>>387318497
Which game? Also sometimes achievements are first added later, such as with HL and darkest dungeon.
>>
The average "gamer" doesn't finish games.
>>
>>387316701
you can learn interesting things from achevements.
There's screenshot floating around, from Total War Rome 2 I think, where achievement stats show that reviewers didn't actually play the game, and finished all battles via autoresolve

Unless they're bugged, only 60-ish% of players got the achievement for completing the opening level of MGSV. So 60% of people who put that disc in their console and installed it ever finished the fucking first level.
>>
>>387321430
>and there are just to many games coming out every week.
Yeah, but like 99.9% of them are terrible so I don't see why you have such a hard time finishing games.

I noticed steam doesn't recognize trophies you earn while offline, and I play singleplayer shit offline on my laptop most of the time so that could be a reason
>>
>>387316701
a lot of people buy games and never play them
>>
>>387321751
But they do download and start them up before never playing them for some reason.

This is why developers keep trying to think of ways to artificially hold a players attention instead of making the kind of game they want to make.

Because really, those older games have an even smaller finished rate and many folks see that as a problem that needs to be fixed.
>>
>>387322146
Not only that, if peopledrop games because too short, they can just make a shorter game and make peoplehappythey finished it.
>>
>>387321674
So you don't consume games because it's something you like doing?
Ha ha ha
Fuck you and your trend following attitude
A game can be bad or can be good, but you'll never know, because you only play games your friends are playing or your favorite e-celeb made a playthrough of it this week.

Get off my lawn kid, that i've got games to play.

Currently at 73% with 2.6k~ cheevs.
>>
>>387322718
I finish/beat most of my games, usually just the story mode, but i dont collect achievements

Last year I only dropped two games: Pokemon Moon and RE0 remake
>>
>>387316701
at first I was the one asking this question but then I became one myself

sales and discounts
>>
>>387316701
If it's a PS3 game they probably just didn't synch their trophies since that shit takes forever
>>
>>387322718
Dunno, but i only go for 100% trophies when it's actually just "do 100% of the content"
ANd not shit like run around in a desert for 5 hours
>>
>friend has birthday
>buy him a game on Steam
>he never plays it but at least I fulfilled my duty
>>
>>387323337
>>387323359
These two are really common. PS+ games also always completely fuck up the trophy percentage. Furi is a pretty easy game to Platinum; you'll have to practice at it for a day or two to get good enough but it's definitely doable and pretty easy overall. Yet, because it was a PS+ game, so many people downloaded, played it for a minute, and then never looked at it again. Thus, the Platinum trophy is stuck at a completely undeserved 0.1%. More people should play that game as it was pretty damn good.
>>
>>387323505
This. You did your part to be a nice guy and you can't force other people to conform. My mom always gets pissy when she does something nice and people don't say thank you; I don't understand why some people do things mainly for the recognition.

I take pleasure in seeing how few people have achieved the same things in games as me. Seeing that I've gotten a challenge-related achievement that has a <5% rate of completion makes me feel so smug.
>>
>>387319270
A lot of games don't. They may have one for beating autism mode that requires 2 previous completions on lower difficulties but I haven't seen an achievement for "complete the game on easy/normal/hard" in a long time. Those have been replaced with other skill based tasks like grinding out multiplayer xp, uploading video's to youtube, and harassing your friends for daily challenges.

Fucking emberassing what achievements turned into.

When achievements first came out I was fucking all about it. Finally, people can easy show what they do in game. But its barely about doing anything in games anymore and when only 1.2% of people actually collect your 500 nicnac's what is even the point having that shit in.
>>
>>387322948
>RE0

Its aight man its garbage don't let people talk you out of it either. REmake owns though.
>but they are the same game!
Not at all.
>>
>>387324221
I played REmake the year before that, but RE0 felt so damn annoying. Especially cuz older mistakes kept biting me in the ass later on
At some point it really just felt like a chore to me
>>
>>387316701
i only have like 10 games on steam and i've only played 2 of them for more than an hour
>>
>>387316701
I'm like that. I'll pick up a game, love it, but then drop it for a while as i play something else, and just never go back. I am trying to get better. I finished Persona 5 and Gravity Rush 2 in the last couple of weeks, and Nier Tomato Ketchup won't be far behind.
