Oldschool Runescape is the best there ever was and best there ever will be. They perfected grinding in every single way.

Depends on what kind of grind you're looking for
Runescape (old school) is almost entirely low APM, just click a dude and switch tabs to a movie/podcast/shitpost/etc, come back to it when your guy is finished. RS3 is similar, but combat requires a button press every now and again to ensure maximum deeps are delivered. Getting money and items in both is fairly easy thanks to the grand exchange.
There's also /v/scape, which is basically OS but with no super new stuff, grand exchange, and more bugs n' unfinished content, along with an arguably worse community, depending on how you view /vg/'s faggots.

Warframe is kinda fun for the first few hours, provided you take long breaks in between play so your shit can get built (it takes 3 1/2 real-time days to build a new frame assuming you do it perfectly), and it's grindy as all hell. It's better with friends, especially if they already ruined their lives warfarming so they can help carry you through. Expect to have to pay attention and shit for the majority of it, though there's a lot of tedium throughout.

Path of Exile is grindy as all fuck, and you're expected to always be moving, only picking up shit if it's shiny enough and ignoring everything except when you need to level up. You have a bajillion skills and means of altering those skills which can help with the grind, but you're still going to have to go out seeking monsters to kill instead of standing in one spot forever. You will never get the items that you want or make/break your build unless you fork over in-game shekels through a purposely obtuse trading system.

Please, convince me why I shouldn't try out FFXIV. I promised I will never touch an mmo again since I spent 10 years on wow only to realize I have missed out wonderful single player games in the mean time - not to mention, my life in general. However this game is so tempting. I would play on PS4, btw.

I've been playing since ARR and I've still had a ton of time to play other games.

FFXIV and nu-WoW are still decent choices if you want an MMO to play that doesn't require you to poopsock just to get anywhere.

Honestly XIV is more casual than WoW. So much so that is actually has way less content at endgame so you'll only be logging in to do a 30 minute dungeon each day (dont even have to do that) and raiding weekly if thats your thing. I'd almost suggest just playing it like an RPG and getting to max level and stopping after you did it all once.

Man the game looked really nice environmentally though. And the professions like cooking can be genuinely fun but it all feels like a waste of time if you're not minmaxing your time grinding to the current tolerable soft cap on exp or making the shitloads of money required for the game to mindrape you trying to upgrade your items with terrible chances and then get them downtiered instead.
Made funner by the fact you can buy stuff for real money to sell on the market for tons of ingame money to help with this.

Motherfucker even with the recent 50% increased silver price of pearl items sold on the market you can only expect to bring in 150 million per week at the absolute maximum and that's selling five $25 outfits per week.

a +19 (TET) piece of gear will run you 2 billion silver. That's not even max enhance so it's only a good item, not top tier. 13 weeks and $1625 to buy a SINGLE good (not top tier) item via selling cash items.

Alternatively just fucking fish for 10 mil per hour, or murder things for upwards of 20 if you go autistic on it.

I play both. Play retail WoW for the good stuff like raids and mythic plus. And I play Elysium if I ever feel like going through a nice cozy journey. People vastly overexaggerate the amount of chinks and bots in Elysium, acting as if because you get a PM for some bullshit gold selling site every hour is enough to ruin your experience. It existed in Vanilla too. Sub if you want to spend a lot of time grinding boring shit you've done a hundred times so you can do the fun stuff, which isn't even that bad if you actually get a good guild.

Honestly killing mobs won't net you 20mil an hour unless they've severely changed it since I've last played. I quit some time after the berserker awakening because I thoroughly didn't like it and after getting my cannon to +17 I got bored of grinding for drops or doing terrible in that siege pvp mode with my seemingly leddit-tier clan. But farming for the turn-in drops even using pets for pick up would net you decent, maybe a couple mil an hour if you didn't get pushed out of the only spots with mob density to allow that. Other stuff like farming for drops that are worth anywhere close to 20mil was super unlikely, would just end up getting something that sold for a mil at best instead after hours.
Then the fact that this is all for the sake of trying to make remotely enough silver to upgrade was just too much for me to deal with anymore. Think I dropped way too much silver on a class I couldn't even do well on

I've been playing this for about a week and I haven't had to grind yet. Not sure how it get's after the story quests, but the main quests always give you enough levels to take up the next one, and money should never be an issue.
