This, so much this. Melee is in my top 10 favorite games of all time, and THE game that was my gateway into competitive fighters like Guilty Gear (which is now my favorite fighting game franchise), and Soul Calibur, but holy fuck, the Smash fanbase is so insufferable, I simply don't even wanna acknowledge them.

Like, me and my friends never had a problem seeing Melee as a competitive fighting game, as we played it that way. But it's the autism, and arrogant pride amid the community that really turns me off, and creates a lot of animosity between them and the rest of the FGC.
