It depends on what you want to do, DPS is probably the easiest starting point (if you fuck up as tank/heals everyone is likely to die, you can keep rolling if one of your DPS dies). Nothing ever really stays the same for very long but at least right now arms warrior is relatively simple and does good damage. Affliction warlock is also pretty good if you want to play a caster.

It's all gear. You do not allocate points and your race does not change the stats you get each level. Check the racial abilities and you're done with all the minimaxing that goes into it
