I need this as well. I got a PS4 in January and I regret it. I only have 4 games for it and only 2 of them are exclusive (Bloodborne and Nioh (which wasn't that good)), the other 2 are Persona 5 and Nier Automata, I have a PS3 and capable PC, but I wanted some use out of this thing. It came with Uncharted 4 as well, but I sold it, I'm not interested in movie trash, which is probably all this console has in store.

Sony didn't release games. Third parties did. Third parties are always the thing that keeps Sony consoles afloat. The one time a Sony console was in trouble was the early days of the PS3. And that's because third parties had a weak showing on it. Third party support grew in the second and third year and PS3 was saved.

Sony first party games don't make any kind of dent on their own system, let alone the market at large.

And for the fourth time now, this has no bearing when Sony is totally destroying Microsoft. They could charge $500 for the PS4 right now and no amount of XBones on the market would stop people choosing PS4 over XBOne. The only thing that lowers the price is the consumers themselves not buying the PS4 until a price drop happens.

Hardware is also not the money maker for Sony. Most of their consoles are sold at a loss in the first 2-3 years. They make their money off licensing third party games and selling first party software. And since people prefer the games on PS4 over XBone, once again, Microsoft isn't influencing them at all by being in the market.

Who said this? Nintendo expected the game to sell less than that because of how few Wii Us and Switch units were on the market. What happened was Zelda ended up selling the Switch.

As someone who bought a Vita but never a Wii U, the Switch is ending up as a great successor to the Vita.
It gets ports of good console games like Puyo Tetris. DQ11, and Rocket League like the Vita did, plus it gets the first-party support of any nintendo handheld.
The way I see it, you can do good with either PS4 or eventually Switch, but if you buy both, you absolutely cannot lose.

The royalties Sony made from just having 1million Neir Automata copies sold on Playstation paid for Horizon Zero Dawns entire development.

This is why it blows my mind that compies like Nintendo and Microsoft aren't investing more in making games where Sony has the least amount of money to spend yet is fucking making 90% of the most compelling, unique, fresh and high profile first party games out of the three.

A: Switch uses Wii's gimmicks. They want to Copy the Wii's success(still...they wont realize the Wii and motion controls are dead to sane people)
B: switch uses mobile hardware, so they're actually targetting home consoles AND portability while targetting potential smartphone games.

I don't think they'll kill their handheld market either, but I can see them attempting to drift away from it they can have one unified platform, WHICH HAS BEEN their publicly stated goal.

More accurate to say that their time has passed, to be honest. The 360 fucking ate Sony alive for the first 3/4 of last gen, and it wasn't until it got the library and price drop working in concert that it managed to turn things around.

Then comes this gen, where MS makes all the same missteps that Sony did, and then proceed to double down on their fuckups by releasing a mid-cycle refresh at too high of a price with a minimal library to back it. I mean, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even need to take off my socks to count off the true exclusives that the Xbone has.

Nintendo has claimed they won't be replacing the handheld line with the Switch. Problem is, the entire gimmick of the Switch is being a portable device. So you gotta think the Switch was their attempt to try and combine the best attributes of their handheld line into a console. To try and get their consoles to sell like handhelds do.

If you take this line of thinking to the next level, why do they need to make a new handheld when the Switch exists? Sure, they said they weren't replacing the DS line. But they said the same thing about Game Boy when the DS launched.

Insomniac wanted to assert their independence, since they didn't own any of the stuff they made for Sony, hence Fuse/Overstrike being third-party. They were able to retain their IP rights while being published by EA, but also had to agree to their focus testing, which caused the rather dramatic shift from the initial trailer to the final release. Insomniac has always done great under the watchful eye of Sony. Even back in the PS1 days. It's nice seeing them branch off to bigger and better, but they're last few non Sony games have been hit or miss. Fuse, Sunset Overdrive, Song of the Deep, some niche VR and IOS titles. Yeesh.
