Agreed OP, loved the aesthetics, presentation, music, story and all that shit, but combat felt bad compared to Bastion, there was no point using real time and some abilities and modifiers felt just better than others like there were clear cut choices. Plus outside of combat nothing happened, there could have been more puzzles based around the pause planning but nope.

Journey
At least it was short.

Nier's combat was very flat and the whole thing was extremely dull.
The music, while initially nice, got -extremely- repetitive.
