For anyone in this thread that hasn't been on the COD train in awhile, you need to be made aware of an important thing. Consider this a PSA

>LOOT CRATE FUCKARY

Activision, and every COD since Advanced Warfare, has had insane level of loot crate fuckary going on. Crates have included or been the only way to obtain new, OP weapons. It has gotten progressively worse and worse to the point of feeling actually compelled to spend money just to stay competitive in the game. This also comes from them, directly, saying they won't have guns in loot crates and then doing it anyways.

This is objectively worse in every way than just having expansion pack guns. Why? Because with expansion pack guns, if an OP Gun is in an expansion pack or part of a season pass, all you have to do is buy that shit. That's it. You could spend 60 dollars on crates and not get the gun you want.

So whats the likely outcome:

WW2 is made by Sledgehammer, who introduced the loot crates but had the least "impact" of them all. In Advanced Warfare, you could get variants of guns in loot crates that would either changes stats in minor ways, or essentially act as an extra attachment on a gun. Not game breaking, but it would give a slight unfair advantage.

In the other CODS after that (IW and BLOPS) they added guns that could only be granted from a crate. You'd HAVE to open a crate to get the gun. No other way. They lied saying they wouldn't do this in BLOPS3

In Modern Warfare Remastered, they lied and added loot crate guns secretly. How to obtain a gun is actually atleast somewhat fair - you open crates to unlock pieces as part of a collection. Getting the 7 items in that collection gives you the gun. Opening the higher crate (requires more "keys) gives "Parts" and better loot. Duplicate loot gives parts as well. Eventually, you WILL unlock the individual items or have enough parts to "craft" all the items in a collection. Every item can be obtained using parts.

What will WW2's be like? Who knows
