It's not because of the graphics that the game will bomb. The graphics are just the tip of the iceberg.
The game will survive in the tournament scene? Probably. But it won't be nearly as great as you expect from a Capcom game. There's even the possibility of Marvel pulling the plug after the game bombs, preventing Capcom of further support like balance patches and new content, but mostly important, keeping them from pumping money in the tourney scene.

If only the graphics were the only problem. I'd like have a new decent marvel fighter but holy shit it seems like they are trying to fuck everything up. People here have been really over hyping Dragon Ball Fighter Z but that game will have to choke hard in order to be outdone by crapcom, at least not in terms sales but even in that case we have multiple examples to call back to where huge vidya brands like Halo, Star wars, and Street Fighter flopped hard because of awful press for offering little content and disregarding their followings in favor of pandering to casual audiences that aren't as enthusiastic as /v/irgins

Speaking of KI. I hope Arika's game is having a sort of KI situation. What, they have 9 characters to add? 2 of them being the Cycloids since it seems those 2 would count. That isn't so bad since the main ones would be about 7. Then Fighting Layer would just be a bonus. I'm fine with that.

Yea I know. So, if my theory is correct, that's all the OG EX1 characters, since EX1 had 10 Arika characters. Then 7 more were introduced, not counting the 2 Cycloids. They said they'd focus on all 19 EX characters before getting to Fighting Layer. So the base roster we'll likely be EX, then we'll get EX 2, EX 2 plus, then Ace & the Cycloids.
