I recently picked up Bravely Second, and even after P5 couldn't restore my faith in JRPGs, the way Bravely implements auto-battle and fast-forwarding makes grinding so much less of a chore.

Being able to adjust the encounter rate is also a godsend

More JRPGs need to borrow features from this series.

I don't usually grind up new parties from scratch midgame or anything, only if my initial party building hunches were off the mark and something about the overall synergy needs fixing. And for that, the newer EOs have mechanics to help the characters catch up super fast, like level jump items in EO4. "Powerleveling for fun" sounds like an oxymoron to me.
