I played this on PC a while back, with my trusty old DualShock 2, and I'm amazed how much of the DNA of the Arkham series originated in that game.

Just got a HDD and loaded a bunch of games on it. Now I don't know what to play or to get also.
I have:

Man, this game is sooo long.
I've put it on hold for now.

And first time I saw the skill grid... it was a bit overwhleming at first

Playing Okami right now. The story takes a bit of a drop in quality after you beat what was presumably the big bad (except whoops, there's an even bigger bad,) but I'm impressed at just how much content is here regardless, even if some of it feels a bit less inspired.

I think this game is really boring and frustrating. The acrobatics get samey after an hour. The combat is so fucking tedious, and the story and characters are cookie-cutter mediocrity. I think I'v ebeen spolied by the AC games, because even the worst of that series is better than SoT. I got about halfway through before I gave up.

I've been experimenting with a lot of PS2 games on emulator.

King's Field Ancient City : Man, the opening is rough. And turning speed is sloooow.
But the atmosphere is solid.

Shadow Tower Abyss : King's Field's faster cousin, or should I say "Bloodborne" of KF series. Along with the starting sword, you have a gun. Monsters are very atypical and other worldly. Opening area is as good as any good horror game.

Armored Core 2/3 : 2 is rough as hell and dropped it after an hour. I can't put my finger one, but AC 3 "feels" better.
Cool thing about it is the lore that runs with each mission. There are corporations vying for power. Completing contracts for each corporation will get benefits(like discounts) for that company's mech parts.
There's other neat stuff too.

I'd say you should play the sequels, Warrior Within or Two Thrones. They "feel" much better.

I played them on PC, however.

Finally got round to playing an Ace Combat game, starting with 4 as everyone recommends 4,5 and 0 in that order. I'm pretty bad but I'm having a lot of fun and I'm sure I'll get better as I keep playing.

How are you playing them? USB, HDD, ETH?

From the sound of it you're using network boot?

Either way generally the best method of playing games is through HDD. Network loading is fine for most games but FMVs might be trash depending on game.

After that if you're still getting problems, just burning the game and using swap magic is the closest to the original experience, but emulation is much more convienient at that point.

Then it's as good as it's gonna get for you. Emulation might be a good bet depending on your specs and what game, but take the shitty cutscenes if the majority of your games play fine most of the time. And since you're on slim then USB isn't a bad choice. If you're getting awful FMVs already, then it's not a significant downgrade, and it's way easier.
