>Entire towns filled with named NPCs
>Everyone's dialogue constantly changes with each step of story progression
How's someone with OCD supposed to ever finish this game?
>>
>yfw without a guide you have to literally talk to every NPC in the region after every plot development to get all the collection items and sidequests

Are they throwaway quests, or are some actually interesting?
>>
>>387163945
Most are throwaway but they're still worth bracer points.

Especially in SC you'll never get your A rank if you miss even one.
>>
>>387164102
That's a tad grating.
>>
>>387165028
Best solution is to play freeform once, then to play with a guide the second time to know where exactly the critical NPC is when that you'd never find otherwise.

That's just JRPGs for you.
>>
>>387163751
>CS Has the midterms where you HAVE to find all 10 books scattered throughout the school AND answer all the questions correctly that you only get less than half the answers to if you study with classmates
>If you mess up, you have to redo an entire chapter
I'm sorry this was the point where I just used a guide to make sure I didn't miss anything.

>mfw in SC you suddenly have to answer trivia in a sidequest about shit like the lenght of a ship

Christ why do these game do this
>>
>>387163945
Trails quests tend to be sidestories with insights on characters or world-building rather than most other game sidequests which are just "collect 10 bear asses".

>>387163554
If you think Trails of Cold Steel 2 Sky's NPC dialogue is OCD inducing, wait until you get to Trails of Cold Steel 2
>game opens up so that you can literally travel across the entire country whenever you want instead of being limited to one town at a time
>every minor story step and hundreds upon hundreds of NPCs change their dialogue and what they're doing
Cold Steel 2 literally had me doing an hour's worth of story progression and 3 hours of talking to every fucking NPC in the game for 50 hours.
>>
>>387165668
Trails in the Sky's NPC dialogue******
I'm tired desu
>>
>>387165668
I'm currently playing the third, the linearity gives me so much less anxiety it's fucking great
>>
>>387165668

Does TOCS 2 reuse locations as badly as TITS2?

trails games have more text than the most text-heavy visual novels and 70% of it is useless NPC dialogue

one trails game has more text than the LoTR trilogy.
>>
>>387165961
Yes

>badly
There's nothing wrong about reusing locations, the entire gist is that each arc's meant to take place in the same setting.
>>
>>387165961
Yep. I've been playing it for about 10 hours and I only saw about 4 new maps.

Each TitS game takes me 90 hours. Now you know why.
>>
>>387163751
Even if you talk to every NPC you'll still miss things. You need to talk to them TWICE.
>>
>>387166419
This is a character you literally only need to talk to once and plays literally no role in the story. He's so irrelevant that you'd probably forget his name 5 minutes after talking to him and he has this much of a backstory.

>Chief Watch Officer Ashton is a superior of Private Harold, Private Scott, Private Antose, Private Lacos and Watch Officer Dyne
>He's also the son of Maggy and the father of Luke

All of these characters have unnecessarily fleshed out backgrounds and relationships too.
>>
>>387167259
As the series goes on, it starts turning self-referential. They ran out of ideas during the third :|
>>
>>387167360
Hatsuu literally asked on Twitter to give her ideas. Crazy.
>>
>>387164102
There's some extra points, so you can get A-rank as long as you beat every optional fight and answe always right when they ask Estelle something.
>>
>>387163751
>>387165405
But you don't get much for getting full AP. Nothing is forcing you to go full autist
>>
>>387167526
No, those are required, too.

All quests and extra points give you a total leeway of 2 points. Any more missed, B+.
>>
CS2 fucking when?

Will Anton ever find success and fulfillment?
>>
>play the first trails which is basically a prologue
>get burnt out by the time i get to sc which is the meat after the setup so never finished it
>been like 2 years so i'll want to play the first game before starting sc again

Never going to finish this series at this rate
>>
By not caring much for completion and just enjoying the world.

Never did any of the crazy hidden stuff, but I talked to every NPC as often as I could because I genuinely enjoyed how alive the world felt.
>>
>>387168503
I gotta admit it was probably better for those of us that was forced to wait for it. By the time SC came out I was itching for a new one.
>>
>>387167638
At first I was intrigued by the thought of so much content but now it just sounds bad.
>>
>>387168943
You can hold ctrl to skip through it.

It's possible but hard.

Playing through TC right now. Should I even bother with Grimoires? The little fucks have shit drop rates.
>>
>>387163554
This game looks kinda cool but I have no patience for reading, I just want to play the game. How feasible is it to just skip all the dialog?
>>
>>387165668
>Cold Steel 2 literally had me doing an hour's worth of story progression and 3 hours of talking to every fucking NPC in the game for 50 hours.

Sound like a good time.
>>
>>387169121
What's the point then?

The combat is alright, but nothing to write home about. You play Trails for the story and worldbuilding.
>>
>>387169121
Well it's feasible. No point playing the game though. The battle system is pretty mediocre
>>
>>387169076

>you can actually meet Anelace in Chapter 2 instead of the final chapter if you drop everything you're doing at a really weird timeframe and go back to the bridge towards Rolent
Wew
>>
>>387169121
The battle system is alright for a game made in 2004, but there's no point in playing it if you don't care about the story.
>>
>>387169076
The items they drop aren't as good as the Zemurian ore weapons, so it's only good if you're going to get weapons for off characters. And you're going to have ore weapons for your main party at least.
>>
>>387169407
This is too indepth.
>>
>>387169348
She seems to underperform against most melee specialists. Her only gimmick is the ability to bring enemy towards her.

I still use her in my main party though. Been wanting to use her since I saw her in FC.
>>
>>387169598
I'm just looking fowards to Renne
>>
>>387169407
Why was she taken to Phantasma? Kevin barely knew of her.

She has a couple of noticeable power spikes thanks to her unique weapons, that aside she's underwhelming.
>>
>>387169987
Does that have cute girls
>>
>>387169598
>>387169348
Unfortunately she has to compete with Richard in 3rd and he's so hilariously, unbelievably broken in that game it's silly.

>Buff his speed up as high as it'll go
>Gets 6 turns of attacks with almost no delay after them

>>387169850
I think it took everyone that was on the team that went to the Liberl Ark first.
>>
>>387170057
No
>>
>>387169987
Xenoblade's NPCs don't compare to the depth or sheer amount of dialogue of Trails NPCs. Next.
>>
>>387163554
>you literally have to talk to every NPC everytime to make sure you get the side quests clear

Cold Steel is absolutely triggering me
>>
>>387170081
But she never stepped on the Ark. Neither did Richard, but he did have interactions with ancient zemurian tech. Renne would have made more sense if the other Enforcers were there too. Shit sounds more like fan service than anything. Not like it bothers me that much.
>>
>>387169041
Genuinely good to know.
>>
>>387170057
Only lyn, elma And Irina
>>
>>387170354
That's only hidden quests and there is what, like a couple per chapter?

Just use a guide for them
>>
>>387169987
>better exploration
>worse everything else
Post a good game next time.
>>
>>387170443
hidden quest in every free day man, thats a quarter AP you lost.
Sure I am using a guide, but still, I am using a guide
>>
>>387169348
She is basically useless considering that she shares weapons with Alan "Fast Craft Man" Richard who can get, like, 7 turns in a row and completely dunk Cassius to half HP in his boss fight with minimal support, a Zeram capsule, and his absurd S-craft damage.

Anelace can... suck enemies in? She does decent damage? She's just not worth it unless you're running a full girl-mode party once you get full party control.
>>
>>387170854
Hidden quests are easier to find in CS, they're always on afternoon.
