I know it's not the patch that's the problem, and it fits the aesthetic fine, it just feels like I'm playing the music in the background and it's not part of the game, it's kind of hard to describe, I get this feeling especially during battles, I didn't have this feeling with the synth music

Orchestra music is weak sounding and sounds like shit, you can barely hear it. It was like this in PS2 version too. Synth stuff is superior.

The original OST was synth, dude. And that sounds fine on 3DS.
Symphonic was done later. Which sounds like crap on 3DS, and really wasn't all that great on PS2 either.
The orchestral versions of Dragon Quest music were meant to be listened to, not to be played alongside the game.
