The idea of summoning supernatural beings is ancient. The way that most RPGs depict summoning has little to do with Jojo stands at all. They are almost never passively "on". The summons themselves tend to have longer cast times than most magic and the summoned monsters tend to either be gigantic and brief or summoned there in the flesh.

As far as RPGs go it only really applies to Persona. Especially Persona 3 (where the Evoker summoning is a call back to the first time Jotaro reveals his stand)
