Sea of thieves is pretty fun.

Coming back to a challenge you couldn't previously solve is a staple of video games. It's mysterious and makes the world feel bigger than it is. If you have a game where you can immediately solve every problem then it runs the risk of being too one-note like most open world games tend to end up being.

Plus, there were checklists in the pause menu. You can pause and see "Oh, I only have 8/10 Jiggies in the first level" and go back and explore and see what you missed.
