I like the premise but the writing is for kids. This would have been a lot more fun with actually evil grownup villains instead of braindead ones for a kids game.
There's also not enough destruction possible. From a title like this I'd image being able to raze half the city. I've not watched a lot of gameplay but from what I've seen there's a loading screen or cutscene every few seconds in some areas and that annoys the fuck out of me. The UI looks also awful and there are redundant UI elements and NPCs one can talk to get the same screen. It's quite the mess.
Then there's the obvious pre-order-character-faggotry that makes me stay away. I'll pick this up once it's on sale with all DLC for 10-15$ or so.

That usually gets it to work but yeah, SR2 is probably one of the weirdest PC ports ever. On some machines it runs flawlessly while others can't even open it.

Saints Rows 3 and 4 are pretty similar. 4's the only one with superpowers but 3 is really wacky.
1 and 2 are also similar, but they're more like a wackier GTA.
SR4 makes reference to the first 3 games a lot, but they're all really different from each other in terms of story and gameplay, and the story's pretty inconsequential regardless so you don't really have to play any of the others. Just enjoy 4.

I'm certain there was an interview with Volition somewhere during SR3's development where they said they were trying to make Steelport so iconic that you wouldn't even need to check the map to know where you were going. Then the game came out and there was absolutely nothing noteworthy in Steelport, not even landmarks.

What makes Steelport that more insulting, is that Stilwater from SR2 was quite honestly one of the absolute best urban open world maps ever created.

It wasn't particularly huge, but there was so much personality crammed into all city's numerous districts. If any would disagree, I'd urge anyone to boot up SR2 and just take in all the sights.

If San Andreas was the apex of open world maps, then SR2 was a close second.

Not to mention the way you could interact with the world. The fact I could rip out a fire hydrant and chuck it through a store window if I felt like it, or explore story areas before and after really makes Stilwater feel very coherent and fully realized instead of a series of set pieces

Like did you know that if you leave The Boss alone alongside NPCs or objects, he'll start interacting with them? Stand up next to breakdancers and he'll start showing off his own moves, stand him next to a weight rack and he'll start pumping iron. There's like 60 interactions like this and I had no fucking idea.
