Played the first level. Actually surprisingly good for how bad it looked from the screenshot.
In game it looks and feels nice to play.

Using the pistol feels a little off because of the gun being way over to the side of the screen and the projectiles feeling like they shoot out of my dick.

The moment you beat a level and everything goes to shit is pretty great though

Partly the graphics.
The huge bit on the left side of the OP screenshot looks like a stretched texture.
Not sure if that was intentional after finding some of the blocks with that texture on them ingame.

Also, the X5 knockback from guns is absolutely not a curse considering I can use it + the purple gun to move at about twice my sprint speed away from enemies

The game is surprisingly fun and feels pretty smooth to play. My one suggestion is that the gun should be centered like in Doom - the bullets already fly from there so it wouldn't require a whole lot of work, and I think arcadey games like this should have centered weapons.
Also no offense but most of the hand sprites look kinda trash, but I bet you could draw a better sprite looking down the barrel. Keep at it anon.

Cheers. Heres a gif from where i experimented with centred weapons. The main reason i went for side weapons is because i can use the same art as the icons, lowering the time to add weapons, meaning i can add more weapons. Simple as that. Same reasons enemies only have 1 animation sprite. I agree the hand looks shit but in-game you rarely look at it i think.

I might add an old school option where the weapon is centred and just rotated sideways or something for purists.. and maybe one where weapon doesnt show at all for pros who want the screen space

On an actual note, the "unlimted ammo while low on health" perk seems a little crazy. I got the uzi or whatever and had that perk, got myself down to the threshold (20hp I think?) and just held down the fire button and proceeded to clear like five more levels without letting go of M1. Had an easier time clearing that way than I did with actual health.
