Just finished the game vanilla. I'll try some graphical mods for my second run, but gameplay mods seem to destroy the game's balance. Either they make it so hard you have to minmax, or even easier than it is, or introducing fanfiction-tier content (ok this one I'm just guessing). An example is sprinting: sure it's nice to sprint, but the game is balanced around not sprinting (enemies can't do it).

While I liked some of New Vegas's mods, I also fucked my saves up while tweaking some of the mods/turning some of them off.

I want to fix them eventually and eventually finish New Vegas, but I can't be assed, nor do I want to start a new game. Any save fixing programs for NV?

I just use mods that work fine with NMM and run the game with FNV4GB. Don't see how hard it is.

Many games for older OS's require either fan patches or the emulation of the OS/older hardware to run on modern machines at all. Just look at the majority of the games on GOG that come pre-packaged with DOSBox.
