What was actually wrong with Ryse? Because all these new action games like God of Reboot and Hellblade feel like Ryse ripoffs, but they're not facing the same hate Ryse did.
Nice bait
I think we just lowered our standards.

Because its too easy
basically >>387122036
it was ahead of its time
people needed to be eased into """cinematic experiences"""
I played it a year ago when it was $5 on a steam sale, knew what i was getting from it from all the mee mees and really enjoyed it. :^)
I! AM! DAMOCLES!

Yes
Why can't we have more Greek/roman action games ? God of War is neat but it's more about mythology.
Most of them are RTS and I love RTS but I like to relax on action games

There were multiple Ryse projects in development, including an Xbox 360 game called Ryse Kingdoms. The Ryse shown at E3 2012 ended up having pretty much nothing in common with the Ryse that released in late 2013.

I mean, technically there were three games.
Game One: Kings - an MMO.
Game Two: Kingdoms - a first person game.
Then there was first person brawler Ryse.
Then there was third person action game Ryse.
Oh, wait, that's four games.
The idea that Ryse was somehow a Kinect game is a bit misguided because that was essentially a completely different game to what we got. It was something people told themselves because they didn't like Ryse's style of gameplay.
Crytek pissed away a lot of money. Then they torpedoed Ryse 2 to prevent Microsoft having control of the IP.
>>387122637
Ryse 2?
>>387122952
Yes. There was a second Ryse in development. Crytek killed it in a sort of "cutting off your nose to spite your face" move. At this point, Crytek have killed:
Ryse 2.
TimeSplitters 4.
Redemption.
TimeSplitters 2: Redux.
Because reasons.
I liked it, but it had so much more potential than what we got.
The scenery was amazing, but you were pitted against constant spawning waves of enemies that kept on being a distraction from the visuals, and honestly weren't all that fun to beat, since it was so damn easy and scripted. I started on extreme mode and the only time I struggled was the final boss battle until I figured out the method they wanted us to use to beat him.
Ended up finishing the game in like 4 hours, because you don't have any incentive to sit back and enjoy the visuals with the never ending stream of enemies annoying the fuck out of you.

Roman was black, this game is historically inaccurate
