Nintendo is doing well, even better than they hoped for with the Switch, but the new president wants to make things more future proof, so despite focusing on the Switch as of now, there are already plans being put into place to secure the next big thing for Nintendo. Long story made short, the Switch is a money making machine, but they fear how long that will last, and so now they are developing some things under the surface to basically make a Nintendo Smart device. As of now, it is very similar to a high-end smartphone, but in time, this will probably change ever so slightly.

This whole idea is from a focus group tested procedure that Nintendo has performed to fell out the field of mobile gaming and entertainment. There will be more phone games, due to the success of Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes, and if the next three games do well on mobile, then expect a paradigm shift in the next five years.

What does this mean for you? Well, it means that the chances of Nintendo ONLY making software are VERY low, but it does mean that there is a chance you will see more of Nintendo and that more Nintendo first-party titles could come to other platforms. HOWEVER, as of now the focus is on the Switch, as well as a minor farewell focus on the 3DS (this year will get games, but as of next year, the 1st party games will come to a screeching halt and by May of next year, Nintendo will leave the 3DS market cold turkey), as well as sneaky focus on mobile gaming that, if done well, will allow Nintendo to REALLY go in on that, even after the Switch slows down. However, Nintendo still does not care about releasing their games on Playstation or Xbox, and has even thrown shade of PC gaming, but do not be fooled, if Nintendo does start releasing software on a platform outside of their own or mobile, it WILL be PC.

Honestly I just hate how /v/ sucks Ninty dick all day long. I don't like the current mainstream consoles either but the other alternative is building an expensive PC or getting jewed by Nintendo.
