Good core gameplay is enjoyable despite the shitty rpg aspects and outdated framework, and this is applicable in every game. F4 could have been a masterpiece had they not stripped so much of the rpg out and made so many shit decisions, but what is there is enjoyable as a time waster.

It was enjoyable at first. Then you start seeing how shallow the gameplay actually is.

It just is I guess, minus some bugs like my automatrons disappearing from the face of the Earth and random game crashes out of nowhere. My favorite bug is that I don't get the prompt to choose where my followers go and they just go back to wherever you recruit them.

The first 5 hours or so I was decently entertained, but as the game went on it's flaws and shortcomings just became more apparent, it became incredibly easy even on the hardest difficulty as a melee character.

The quests were incredibly lackluster with too much reliance on shitty dynamic quests, the main story wasn't very enjoyable, dungeons all feel the same after the first 10 with mostly randomized loot and either having super mutant, raider, or ghouls as the enemies.

The perk system has nothing interesting going for it with mostly % increases and gun modifications were just boring straight upgrades.

i liked the slow evolution of becoming a god of the wasteland through perks, but in fo4 it feels like every level up your perk just lets you do some basic shit slightly better, like lockpicking or better deals on trades. it doesnt have fun perks

This. The game was WAY too much of a deviation from the tried and true formula. So many of the changes were good (combat, survival mode, modding, power armor) but so many were nonsensical (4 dialogue choices, no skills, radiant quests). Its still an alright game, but it had so much potential that it managed to flush down the toilet because they changed too much.
