Should i buy new mans sky? The game had a huge update and im tempted to buy it.
>>
>>387088568
No. It's repetitive clicker-shit with absolutely zero value.
>>
>>387088568

I dunno. I bought it at launch for PS4. While is was an unfinished mess back that it was still interesting and I put a fair amount of hours into it.

I am very curious now and also thinking about picking it up, this time for PC as I've sold all my consoles. Should look MUCH better at least.
>>
is space combat fun or cuhraazyy?
if not its trash
>>
OP is a faggot and the answer is obviously no, but is it worth pirating now at least?
>>
With over 500 quintillion planets, no other game is going to give you better bang for your buck
>>
>>387089072

It was not fun when I played at launch. I hope its better.

>>
Only if its 20 bucks or under.
>>
>>387088568
nope, still trash
>>
>>387088568

I bought it yesterday for 25 bucks on steam, I'm 10 hours into it. Honnestly, it's a beautiful experience. Game can be tricky to optimize, the motion blur is very taxing and vsync is acting all weird, but overall it runs fine and it is mesmerizing.

From I can tell they've put some effort into writing an actual story line, but it doesn't feel forced on you. You can do as you please, and the freedom is great.

I have to say you to tend to see the same patterns over and over again, and by that I mean plants and life forms look a like on most planets I've been to. It does seem like the closer you get to the center, the freakier the worlds become. I hope it's not wishful thinking on my behalf but an actual mechanism.

But yeah, I've waited a year and when I saw that new update and price tag I knew it was the time to get it.

My 2 cents
>>
>>387088568
Wait until they make a decent multiplayer and improve the building stuff.
>>
>>387088568
only worth pirating right no
>>
>>387090115
It's $24.00 right now. It's probably not to going to go any lower for a while after this.
>>
I was one of the idiots who bought it at launch. Played it for about a week then the crashes got to the point of being unbearable. Started it back up with the 1.3 (now 1.31) update and it's a very different game. I'm not sure how much better it is but it seems better, so far.
FOV slider on PS4 is probably the best addition.
>>
Just GOG it
>>
>>387091883
Unless you buy it for 20 or less off someone else. I just did that two weeks ago in maple bucks land.
>>
>>387092494

I say go for it. I got fucked over at launch, but I'm pretty satisfied with what they've done with it. It feels like an actual expansion and a huge one at that. Not worth 60 bucks, though. Pick it up on sale and ignore /v/ shitposters.
>>
Leaving aside the bugs from this patch, the main problem is that they nerfed literally every form of income, while increasing the costs of production (i.e. glass took 30 units of resource pre-patch, now it takes 250 units). Furthermore, now you have to constantly refuel your farm pots which is just a fucking chore, so farming just got hit pretty hard too.
>>
Unless they fundamentally change the gameplay it will always be shit.
>but they added multiplayer orbs!!!
>>
>>387090893
>My 2 cents

Shilling for 2 cents must be horrible
>>
I'm waiting for elite dangerous to go on sale instead
when does it usually go on sale, and for how much?
>>
i can't express how disappointed i was when nms came out.

my expectations weren't even high. i didn't expect multiplayer. i didn't expect much unique content.

but you couldn't fucking fly into the ground. you couldn't land on asteroids. you couldn't fly towards the sun or whatever. it was all so fucking managed. you couldn't take your ship underwater.

just so fucking lame. i don't think i'm ever gonna be able to get over it that sense of revulsion if i boot it up again. the damage is done.

I went ahead in bought it but even with all the changes and the game looking wayyyy better visually along with more interesting creatures.... I'm just not really enjoying it. >Elite Dangerous

Don't. I know some faggot is going to call me a NMS shill, but I would go for that over Elite. Also, no offline.
>>
The problem with Nu Male Sky isn't that there was a lack of story; I don't get why they even bothered adding this in the latest patch.

The problem is (probably) something that they can't patch out with fundamentally restructuring how the game's procedural generation engine functions at a most basic level.

When 99% planets you visit are barren and uninhabitable wastes, yeah you have the realism aspect down, but no one is playing a space exploration game for the "realism". They want the thrill of exploring uncharted planets and systems, discovering new life, etc etc.

Instead, exploration almost feels like a checklist of things to do before fucking off to the next planet or system.

>arrive in system
>head towards planet
>land so the game recognizes you as discovering the planet
>catalog nearest flora/fauna for credits
>explore ruins for optional lore, language, and weapon/armor upgrades
>fill up your inventory and ship inventory with materials
>head to nearest base to sell it for more credits
>repeat until you get bored of your current skybox
>leave and head to the next planet

I haven't played since launch, but if they cannot change the repetitive and droll way the system operates, it will always be broken.

They've made improvements to the generation, there's still allot of shitholes but I've been seeing more neat shit. Landed on a planet that was completely bare sans these weird floating orb like rock things dotting the landscape, and with nothing but stars above it looked down right strange.

It's a honest question that I found myself asking
There were many flaws with the game when it first came out, and it was overhyped.
Now that the hyped has died, the price has gone down, and there has been a patch, it seems almost worth.
I'm still on the fence if I should get it. the concept seems so cool, but is the gameplay actually good?

I played it at launch. It was the most mind-numbing shit I've played. I knew exactly what to expect on every planet. Mounds of the same exact mineral spread out across the planet, crystals jetting out the ground, weird looking alien plant, and sometimes alien life. Everything I did was exactly the same on every planet. Land on planet, shoot at minerals. Collect crystals, find an outpost or 2, leave. No variety, no pioneering.

If you ever wanted to feel what it's like to be in purgatory, play it.

I figured this would be easier than Elite Dangerous, even on Permadeath considering I've heard it's basically babby's first Elite. Turns out I was wrong. My experience with No Man's Sky so far can be summed up as such
>Welcome to the game!

>Alright, you've spawned on a hot planet. Here's a laser and some objective markers
>Oh wait, your drivers are outdated and you can't see? Good luck with that

And then after I installed the new drivers
>Oh, where were you, tough guy?
>Oh, what's that? New graphics drivers? Well, that's alright then.
>Oh what's that? You're life support is out? Well then you better find this hot shit to fix it
Where do I get this hot shit?

Can I be FUCKING real for a second?

This community is fucking atrocious right now. You're all acting like a bunch of whiny, entitled little babies.

A tiny team of people made an entire universe for you to explore. They made it for YOU, and they're going to wake up tomorrow morning and see that instead of enjoying it, this community of "fans" picked out the 3 or 4 things that weren't perfect and are using that to fucking riot.

Guess what? The game was never going to be perfect. It was never going to live up to your hype. It was never going to be everything you'd ever want in a game.

What it WAS going to be was an impossibly big universe filled with mysteries and weird shit. I just played it for 2 hours and it was exactly that. What more do you want?

Is it buggy? Sure. Is it repetitive? Maybe. Is the inventory system imperfect and the multiplayer feature questionable and the structure unclear? Sure, fine.

But holy shit what do these people OWE YOU?

How fucking entitled do you have to be to explore an infinite universe in a spaceship and then say "yeah but..."

We should all be fucking weeping in our chairs right now at the sheer size and scale of the achievement. We should be showering the people behind this thing with the praise they deserve for pulling off one of the most inspiring games in recent memory.

Hello Games doesn't owe you the world. Yet they gave you 18 QUINTILLION of them.

If you have the fucking audacity to complain about it then you don't deserve it and you were never fans in the first place.

I've been playing all afternoon.

>fly around my first planet collecting shit and earning money
>talk to 20+ aliens with the same dialogue options in which they teach me a word
>still can't understand anyone, am I supposedly to go through the entire english language what the fuck?
>get bored and start following the objective
>fly to several planets and get muh boosto
>boosto to several systems
>see I can purchase a freighter but it's like 200m credits
>no thanks

That was a waste of $20. You definitely see the potential in this game but the fact that it is so void of content and boils down to being randomly generated is uninteresting.
