Ultimate Edition plays 1000000000 times better than the Original and look incredible as well. However, the did take away some "darker" feels to it with some area's being slightly brighter. But that's a poor thing to say because the only reason it's like that is it's more natural and realistic looking compared to the original.

In the Gears universe women were never meant to see combat and were sent to breeding camps to be raped and be used to pump out as many males as possible in the lab because the human race was so fucking on the verge on needing soldiers. The males were pumped so full of different types of boosters it made them massive like that and they also eat like fucking bears. Gears has a special place in my heart because it was my dead best buddy's favorite series. I remember when my older brother bought Gears 1 in 2006, me and my best friend had to play it secretly late at night because we were 10 and my mom didn't want us playing "the chainsaw game." We got to the part of the nighttime kryll mission where you have to sprint across a dark street while a locust on a turret shoots at you, and the cabinet I was taking cover behind exploded so I joined my friend behind a small oven. And the two of us just sat there, two giant mountain men hiding behind this little oven in the middle of the street while a gatling gun rained down on us and we just laughed our asses off at the absurdity of it. Then when Gears 3 came out we would play wingman all the time and find a little spot to camp away from everyone else, and then we would spam weapon switch behind cover so our characters' arms would have a seizure from moving too fast and we would laugh our asses off at that too. It sounds retarded but some of my fondest memories come from Gears.

I miss my wingman.

My fondest game memories are thanks to Gears as well.

It's funny because my dad got me into the Gears and he has nothing to do with video games. We were in a gamestop when I was 11 and he got tired of waiting on me to make a decision so he walked up and saw Marcus holding a giant gun with a chainsaw and asked me if it looked cool and I said yes and got it. My life changed from that point on for video games. I am still metnally scared because my dad had no awareness of M rating and I was a fairly innocent kid. I played the entire story alone and when the scene with the berserker came where it ripped a cog soldier to pieces through a shadow my young mind was fucking petrified by that.

To this day as a 22 year old that scene makes me twitch a little bit and scares me. ESPECIALLY THE REMASTERED VERSION HOLY FUCK.

This game series really did have some damn good co-op. Hell, Gears 2 was the last game my brother and I enjoyed before we stopped talking to each other. He'd tend to use the more standard weaponry like the Lancer while I covered him using the more special weapons like the Torque bow or shield. The turret section near the beginning where you gun down a bunch of Brumaks was a blast and the final fights against that guy with the chainsaw staff and the ridable Brumak section are some my most fondest vidya moments.

Holy fuck, my brother and I were stuck here for an entire fucking day. We tried literally everything to defend the museum, nothing worked since the drones would just bum-rush the whole thing. We eventually devised the strategy of running out past the drones and hiding out in a staircase that funneled all the Juvies into a tunnel of death so they couldn't circle around us. God that part was fucking awful.
