You watch some pros, watch some tutorial combo vids, and warm up against bots. But at the end of the day you still need to play real people, people who will smash you, to get better. It might be rough, but trust me, you will eventually see some improvement, you just gotta keep persistent.

Make or join a beginner lobby. Playing with people your level helps but getting occasionally destroyed online is good experience too to see where you stand. I'm also anxious about going into higher level lobbies because I'm not sure if I'm ready for them yet.
