Dark Souls is my favorite game, but I haven't bothered with the DLC for 2 or 3 because they're both pretty bad games and the DLC isn't gonna change that. The Old Hunters is From's best DLC.

dark souls 2 level design:

>go through a city
>parts of the city are cut off by ice
>some enemies are non hostile
>some enemies are encased in ice
>reach a certain point in the city
>extra paths are unlocked in the city because the ice shatters, but the city gets harder to explore because there are now more enemies and less cover

dark souls 3 level design:

>go to a new area
>a big thing hits/shoots at you, forcing you to rush through the level
>once the big thing is dealt with you can explore in peace

they use this trick in the ringed city(judicators), the dreg heap(angels), cathedral of the deep(giant), smouldering lake(giant crossbow), undead settlement(giant archer), irythill dungeon(giant), the profaned capitol(fire bowl thing), lothric castle(dragons) and the grand archives(crystal sage)

dark souls 2 makes re-exploring interesting, dark souls 3 just pads out its length by forcing you to go through an area twice and is obnoxious

I liked it, but DS3's dlcs are a bit weak compared to the main game
All bosses were fine to me, Gael is most likely the best because I didn't like how the phase 1 of the demons played out. Midir ripped my ass off but I got the best of him after carefully selecting my gear and trial by error.
I preferred the ringed city itself compared to the ashe-filled dreg heap and the YET ANOTHER FUCKING SWAMP, but no strong feelings to the areas

I don't mind it as an ending to Dark Souls but hope there'll be more games like it

I maintain that das2 has much more replayability than 3. I'm struggling to move my das3 playthroughs forward to reach the bosses and levels I like.
