3JP->Assault Horizon Legacy for 3DS (it's a remake of 2, do not get Assault Horizon for PC it's a different game)->4->5->0->X (PSP)->7 (when it comes out)

All of them are story heavy and you can go in any order you want but the release order makes it easier to see call backs and references in the later games. The stories are mostly self contained but reference each other. For example in Ace Combat Zero you can shoot down the mechanic in Ace Combat 5 back when he was a pilot but unless you played 5 first, you would have no idea that the otherwise not special enemy you shot down was important at all.

I felt that way at the end of Dark Souls 1. Call me a soulsbabby if you want, but that game scratched an itch I'd been having for a long time. It was like playing OoT the first time again. I went back and played Demon's Souls and the rest of the series too, but the only one that really gave me a feeling like that again was beating Orphan at the end of the Fishing Hamlet in Bloodborne. Really great games I'm sad I'll never get to experience the first time again.

>mfw it was even better, everything I could have wished for and more
I don't know about the saddest but I finished Fire Emblem Echoes yesterday and was really fucking sad.
Not because of the story, in fact, Celica is the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen in a Fire Emblem game. I even liked Azura more because at least she doesn't screw everyone over and tries to become a zombie and kill everyone.
No, the real reason I was sad is that this is the highest quality of story and voice acting (in Japanese) that I have witnessed in a Fire Emblem game but it wasted on a piece of shit gameplay wise that I won't ever touch again because now that I finished it, I can freely judge it for being a shit game.
It's such a goddamn shame.

How is it that they can get you so attached to a character that's just sprites? Is it the turnaround from villain to friend? The music? His selflessness? Also why the fuck is Dialga a greedy bastard that won't bring him back as well as the player? If it wasn't for Grovyle time never would have been saved because Dusknoir would have killed us.

The pig masks were intimidating, no matter how goofy they were. A super advanced military trying to quarantine an island of what is basically colonists is scary. Here we have a ura, a guy who lived in the tazals as a poor theif kid, barely stealing enough to not starve, got caught by a priest and reformed, had his life made anew, became a symbol of good will and a peacekeeper between the Ura and Caelondians, even got himself a girl he loved, and suddenly, its all gone.
His priest father, gone, his friends, gone, his wife, gone, all ashes, saved by caelondians to live in a floating bastion ship, only to find out the people that harbored him in were the people who were making a doomsday device. I could never blame zulf for having betrayed the bastion, but I cant help but wonder, did he not know it was a Ura that set the end of the world, or was it him just ignoring it.

Really take a step back and ease on the r9k goggles. Even if the case was a real life one and not one in a porn comic (since you're applying your /reddit9k/ logic pointlessly on a cartoon character) your roastie whining wouldn't be sensible. A person like that would've fallen on some fucking terrible times, worse than anything you've experienced. Fuck i remember playing that. Really fucking hurt at the end whenhe got put in front of a firing squad so close to the end of the war
It's probably not a game I'll ever play again, but it left a lasting impression on me. I know the other anon is citing all wars, but I think we sometimes forget just how fucked WWI was. It was a complete and utter breakdown of political relations. There were no "good guys and bad guys," and frankly after what everybody did to Germany, it's hard to claim that we weren't bad guys. And yes - people were literally just so excited about all this new technology that everybody threw soldiers at one another, and it literally just turned into a fucking war of attrition.
WWII was also just as fucked, but I think motives were clearer, and even if you could find valid reasons in even the Axis powers motives, (not Japan though they were just on the fucking warpath for the hell of it), and we also have discussed it so much that it really doesn't bother anybody anymore. It doesn't impact us like it used to. WWI on the other hand is a fresh, untapped bit of history most people know little about. So it hits you a little harder in the gut seeing how bloody it was

came here to post this, Terranigma is one of the few games that really gets me worked up.
My saddest would be the ending in pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of the sky but it's already been mentioned, next to that is Mercedes' ending in Odin Sphere.her mother dies on some battle against a power lusting warlord, was forced to grow up and become a queen of her people without being slightly ready,
was betrayed by her uncle who tried to kill her, her only emotional support was a talking frog with whom she falls in love and becomes the harbinger of the apocalypse, said frog dies without Mercedes ever knowing about it.
She grows up to become a strong queen and finally avengers her mother, only to die a while later fighting back the world's end.

drawn to life 2
Her ending in Central Fiction, mostly due to the fact I was hoping for and expecting closure.

On my first playthrough I've got S ending. Just doing my best to keep girl happy

It would've been easier to just copy and paste the linkinstead of being a cuck, but you did all that work for nothing.
I know the game is unfinished and I'd love for them to have put more into the game, but the non-story things that I did with my buds and all the smaller bro moments made the ending kind of hard.

aww, cute sketches
if that's so, someone should heal her broken sexuality. then she could re-draw emergence where protagonist girl never succumbs to evil, just keeps living her boring lifeand then she suicide after she's all out of will to move on through her daily boredom

Not vidya, but it got me good.

Sorry, anon. I just can't find it. If it helps, I think the girl''s name was Kaede. And at one point the hero has a foursome with some arrogant princess ghost and her servants. It MAY have been a Lusty Lady Project but i dont remember exactly. Hope you have better luck than I did.

That would still have been shit and it would still have been attached to the abortion that is mgs4
His whole character was surprisingly sad and well done for a usually very over-the-top series like Danganronpa. I'm sorry, Hoshi.

>best plot point in the whole game
Come on now.
It was good and would've worked insanely well as motivationand an excuse for Dojima to join the teambut the way it happened was an obvious tear jerker. It didn't start out feeling forced, but the revival totally was bullshit. The best plot point was easily Namatame in general because it actually worked for the most part, unlike most of the other plot developments.
>>387082502I wish them well. It's been a gift to me, at the end of it all, to behold innocence.
Goodbye, Zion.

What? If any mainline SMT story has actual emotional influences on you you're a giant faggot

Everyone always just talks about the ending, but this got me good too.

That was pretty great, though I think the bit where they're talking in the hospital shouldn't have taken place in a hospital but right there
>>387054096
in Tales of Symphonia when youre party sacrifices themselves one at a time for you save Colette, also on a side note Kratos leaving earth was pretty fucking shitty too

I am so sad no other squad based game used the sqaud commands of that game.

I believe when first playing Persona 3 I cried whenAkihiko speaks to the portrait of Shinji at the school.
And Nier really almost got me whenEmil goes on his spiel to Kainé after you defeat her Shade form.

Just because it can be looked at from a political perspective doesn't mean it's actually a political subject
