Does this game get good at all? I played it for 30 minutes and it was just a walking simulator. Got bored and turned it off.

I pirated it actually.

Neo-/v/.

If you didn't enjoy the first 30 min and are waiting for some DMC level gameplay then skip it, its not for you.
What pisses me off of today's "story driven" adventure games is the complete lack of interesting and difficult puzzles.
>>387053575
I agree but when it at this level I can overcome it.
You spent 30 minutes and still couldn't get to the first battle section? You're pretty bad at videogames.
It's 2deep4u, my man. You should just quit.
>>387053123
Probably one of the better games I've played in a while. Also Senua is a qt andShadowdid nothing wrong.
>All those people sucking the Game off for its deep plot.
>Actual narrative is flimsy and lack substance, the Game just keeps barfing sentences at you.
This is the worst part. Why must the gaming audience have such low standards for writing?
>>387053123
Did you actually play the game?
>>387054767
Because the whole medium is riddled with shit and mediocrity trumps shit?
>>387054914
because the average video game has writing so bad to the point where a game with writing that doesn't blow balls is immediately considered 'pretentious' by /v/
>>387054914
A complete lack of story that covers itself up with fluff is worse than a bad or poorly told story. I'll take dumb shit like FF4 over Hellblade any day if we're just talking about story.
>>387054767
Name one good narrative driven game in which you're not tasked with saving the world.

Literally Witness-tier puzzle. kek
>>387053123
Nope, there are only 5 kinds of enemies in the game. Also only one boss is actually good another's no final boss, just enemy wave after wave until you die.
At least Crisis Core had the decency to give you a final boss before throwing that shit at you.
Pretty good horror game, if you want to be spooked its a good pick, but otherwise you just flushed 30 bucks down the drain.
>>387055024
Pretentious is actually an apt descriptor in this case.
The game has nothing to say, but won't stop portraying itself as if it's complex and insightful. The comical farce of DmC was better written than this garbage; it had multiple levels of conflict, themes, resolution, a logical progression of rising and falling action. It was horribly executed, but it had the basics.
Hellblase is five to six hours of exposition, fakeouts, and shit being thrown in your face. The game lacks the narrative arc needed for competence in the first place, and it's pathetic that people think constant chatter and a crazy protagonist somehow means the story is servicable.

Plenty of graphic adventure games or interactive narratives would be good examples.

useless movie basically

That beats most of the narrative-driven graphic adventure games of the past with their complete nonsense puzzles.

This.
The game tries to make it seem like the story isn't as shallow as a kiddie pool.

>TellTale
That's the very definition of pretentious.
