It's the D&D alignment chart issue. You want Lawful Good leaders, but there ARE no Good leaders in the MENA. At best you can have Lawful Neutral, which Gaddafi and Assad were/are. Western foreign policy seems to be pretending that there are some wildcard chaotic good out there to replace them when really they're trying to find Lawful Evil to add to their globalist conspiracy.

Lenin was pretty terrible at governing though. In terms of all the soviet leaders before Stalin's death, he ran the country the worst. As bad as Stalin was, the USSR was definitely the most successful under his iron fist. And Trotsky was...well, Trotsky. Only Trotskyists care about Trotsky.

>hey here's a system that allows your civ to naturally research technologies that would fit your civ's current situation faster
>lol jk it's just a quest system that we expect you to fulfill for every technology to keep relevant
>we made a new system for social policies that allow you to switch between them for different bonuses and different governments have different amount of slots for them
>lol jk 90% of them are useless
>we heard you guys missed stacking so we brought back limited stacking
>lol jk it just allows you to combine several units of the same type into a bigger stronger version of the same unit instead of stacking different kinds of units
Add onto that shitty graphics (both shitty in the sense that it's hard to identify things at a glance, like hills being damn near invisible, as well as being just plain ugly), lack of civs in the base game and greedy dlc practices and it's not difficult to see why it performed so poorly.

Eureka system is a really great mechanic in concept that was seemingly implemented by an intern. It has no depth to it when it had the potential to completely alter how Civilization rounds were to play out. In reality all it really creates is a brain dead, no effort, and repetitive quest system that isn't optional if you want to stay ahead. That means every game is even more the same than previous installments in the series.

That is fine and dandy, just don't lump in socialism with it. A decent spice of socialism is a good thing for a state, and has improved the lives of millions of people.

Also, understand that there are different "interpretations" of communism. Many of these rulers did not really care much about what Marx said exactly, and tried to force something that Marx thought to be a somewhat natural process. Most of these communist dictators were utter maniacs, and they played a big roll themselves in the process of their systems failing.

That being said, communism itself is retarded, it does not work, can not work, and will not work. I just implore you to get a more nuanced view of the whole thing.

Socialism is the only logical end of the increasing trend of automation.
Eventually we'll get to a point where most of the population is unemployable because machines are more efficient/cheaper/more productive.

This is what I meant when I implored you to get a more nuanced view. Marx did not invent socialism. There were many socialists in his time that had different understandings of what socialism was. Communism is a brand of socialism, a very extreme interpretation of it.
Socialism in general just means that a country takes care of its citizens. And like that other anon said, having basic things that most people take for granted these days like a fire department or health care is already socialism.

China isn't really communist, it seems more fascist than communist nowadays. It's missing to an extent the strong authoritarian leader (more bureaucratic than personality cult, but xi ping might change that) and racially Hanization is damn well emphasized when it comes to weegeee-gurs and Tibetans. Strong state control of the economy but also a willingness to co-opt capitalism to work with the state a'la the Nazis compared to the Soviets. It has nothing to do with education. The whitest US states are the ones with the highest IQ - higher than all of Europe and all of Asia, except for Singapore, South Korea, and Japan.

Oh, but I guess it's just that THEIR education system is the good kind, not the kind the rest of the US uses, because it's all about education and not about demographics.

Um... only that they did. So nice fantasy you have there, /pol/.

Also - there are barely any minorities in the first place in "western nations", aside certain country made almost entirely by immigrants from all over the world. And said minorities come from neighbouring countries, so please tell us all how German minority in France is a symbol of stupid illegal immigrant.
Oh, right, you forget world works differently outside America, what a surprise!

You don't have to treat it like a quest system to stay on top of science. It's not worth it most of the time.

Only about 40% of the social policies are useless, which is about how bad the Civ V ones were. Some of them are incredibly powerful but situational, some are just overall better than others, and some come way too late to be truly impactful while still being good.

You CAN stack different kinds of units. You can stack battering rams, siege towers, medics, engineers, and great people on top of other units. It's just limited for balance reasons.

The graphics are great, and it actually is far easier to distinguish what is where than in Civ V. At a glance I can tell what everything is. Plus, the artstyle looks fantastic. It's more cartoony like Civ IV, without going full Giraffe-Gandhi. Only 80% of the way there.

Every civ game has lacked civs in the base game. VI started with as many civs as V did.

Yeah, Deutschland as a nation is not that old, but as a concept, as a cultural idea, is much older.

The term "Deutschland" actually has an interesting history. In the ~8th century or so the people right of the Rhine considered themselves "völkisch", in contrast to the fancy latin-speakers left of the Rhine. So, the people right of the Rhine said their language was that of the Volk - which meant "teutsch" in their language. From that "teutsch" language evolved the "teutsch" culture, and thus a feeling of cultural unity (or atleast connection), and then the idea of a whole "Teutschland", even though that did not mean that the land would be united as one country, but rather that the land all the German kingdoms were on would be summed up as Teutschland.
This cultural identity persisted through the ages, people like Herder and Goethe are just prove of that. Goethe actually set out to write a unifying literature for "Teutschland", so that the united German people would have a figure like the English Shakespeare, the Roman Vergil or the Greek Homer.

Yeah, he was an incompetent twat who starved to death 80 million of his own people. That's why I want to see him included.

Actually you know what I've got a better idea.

kek my family's history proves otherwise but sure, go ahead and attack my family thinking that any wealth lost wouldn't easily get regained again.

It would piss off the commies though.

Honestly, the Chinese don't haven't had many decent leaders over their history. Chin was the logical choice for CIV 6 as he was easily the most influential; but even he was a psychopath.

Hell Kublai Khan did a better job ruling China than any of the Chinese emperors ever did.

All controversial ones. No really. Do a dark and misanthropic Civilization. Call it something else if you have to, it'd be a better side game than Civ After Earth.

Do it. I know Civilization as a series is a celebration of human history and a testament to the glory of man, but fucking do an evil one. Genocide options, killing of internal factions, power plays, do it all. I want to play it.

>>
>>387079997
Why not both? Stalin would have to be in it. That's just my cursory list, feel free to add. If they were going full controversy then they ought to put Trump in there for America, then unironically have Jefferson Davis as a Confederate faction.

Seconded this, but this never going to happen. Because you need to completely change game mechanics for that. And if you do, you'll get another Paradox 'Europa something' GS game which will have fuckall to do with Civilization anymore.

I thought one of the criteria was that there was something remarkable to say about the leaders or their personalities.
>>
>>387080389
They could easily just rename the religion component from Brave New World to 'ideology', and rename policy to 'power', and enable a basic 'attempt genocide' option, that gives you policy power points at the cost of happiness. Then when the ideology is wiped from your homeland you lose the unhappiness and get a cool fearmongering bonus.

Oh yeah, we all know how germany has always been a single unified country that's also the industrial, technological and economic backbone of europe since the fall of Rome, right?
Animal rights were also such a big thing during WWI as well. Isn't it.
And we know how advanced space exploration technology was in both the US and Soviet Union before the invention of the V2 rockets, which were totally not the first ballistic missile ever built. Right?
