Can we talk about good, low-budget games?
Doesn't matter if its indie, AA, freeware, western or japanese, there's a unique feeling you get from playing good games made on the cheap.
Have you played any low-budget games recently? How was it?
I want a damn sequal.
It was cathartic.
>500k fucking $

> Budget: $500.000 (estimated)
It was also confirmed multiple times on the Steam boards and not even 20 people worked on it.

All the Sam games are made on the cheap, it makes more sense when you see things like Sam's model or how basic the levels are (basic doesn't mean bad though just most levels will funnel into monster arenas over and over very 90s).
Still consistently the best shooters I've played in a while.
sequel was pretty good too

>Bought it for a buck as a joke.
>Turns out to be a very competent game and something I would have happily paid $20 for.
I gifted a few copies to friends, Marlow Briggs deserves a sequel.

>how basic the levels are
Well, it's not like the real life counterparts are any more complex and in fact that's one of the reasons why they focused on the whole Egypt stuff since the large temples and courtyards are ideal for large-scale battles.
The budget of Zeno Clash 1 was about 125K $ according to the devs.
500 bucks and better character design than most AAA titles.
Does anyone know how much this cost? I cant find it anywhere.

you know there is more to level design than just the basic geometry and BFE has a lot of detail in the maps if you bother to look

Started playing this today. Most of these kinda adventure games have this unique charm to them and give you a sense of wonder and immersion. After I beat this, I looking forward to beating chapters on ps4.

Meant to reply to OP.

It's a bland metroidvania with shit art direction and awful story. I guess animations are ok
>>387057223
Its Marlow Briggs. Its God of War but with Marlow Briggs and instead of edge, its B-movie action/cheese which makes it inherently much better.

Runs petty damn well, some of the changes like the new enemy attacks are more than welcome, especially the Scrapjack's grenade launcher, and it's also a relieve that Technopolyps and Khnums aren't immune to bullets anymore and that.
The most notable graphical improvements are ambient occlusion in the Encounter games and WAY better looking water and new skyboxes in BFE.
On the other hand the engine seems to have an issue with drawing far away shadows and grass (although the latter can be changed with console commands) and stuff like Scrapjacks now being instantly melee-able was a change to the worse.
According to the dev-notes there will be tons of additional stuff later on, like redesigning the Legend of the Beast DLC, graphics and lore improvements for the Encounter games and additional enemy types, more lore snippets and graphical overhauls for BFE.
