Budokai 3 with false roman cancels and a parrying mechanic that costs ki. Turn the dragon rush into a Burning Dragon mode or something where you can do your strongest attacks from a combo string.

Make the beam clashes and blow-for-blow segments a guessing game instead of rotating the sticks.

This is going to probably sound stupid but an open world action adventure game.

It would do much better in the Dragonball era though and not during Z.

Similar in a way to BotW but with certain events taking place are certain times, like entering the fighting tournament. Meeting Roshi to learn the Kamehameha wave, getting the flying Nimbus and the pole staff, etc. Combat would be more similar to budokai tenkaichi with a full 3D (include aerial) combat, flying and blast exchanges would be extremely limited at first though and the map sizes wouldn't be nearly as large since you wouldn't be traveling at full flying speed.

Not really. The longest powering up scenes are SSJ3 Goku and USSJ Trunk, which are about 5 minutes max. As for standing around, that probably goes to Goku forming the Namekian spirit ball while Piccolo and them stall.

Most of what Kai did cut was extended action sequences (including continued energy barrages) like Gohan going berserk against second form Frieza. I can't speak for everyone, but I personally like the original version better for that scene.

Neither are as good as their predecessors but I slightly like Super more, however with the current arc this has slowly been changing back into GT's favor.

Based on Dragonball (everything before Z), a combination of adventure game/RPG and fighting game where both aspects are expertly accomplished. Covering every DB arc and showing some unseen parts during timeskips or whatever.

Alternatively, building your own (human) character and assisting Son Goku now and then during DB important events, but also having your own adventures, and participating in the budokai tournaments.
