You can ONLY post in this thread if you were born in 1986, literally the perfect year to be the perfect age to be able to play the most perfect vidya.

You need to buy 20 Gems from the App Store to get that question sooner than 24 hours from now.
> born in 1985
> have a famous movie constantly reference the year of your birth
> older and wiser, but not too old

It's infinitely more sad to be young and going here. You're wasting the best years of your life.
>born in january 1986
>exactly the right age to experience the ps2 erain all its glory with lots of spare time and few financial demands
>1993
>be young kid during the fun of early 2000s PC gaming
>look forward to growing up and being a part of the community
>can't wait for all the amazing games that will come out in the future
Needless to say, I was disappointed.
>>387031127
>4chan suddenly has a maximum age limit
You're here forever anyway.

>>387030313
Eh I keep hearing how amazing it was, nobody ever posts a game that was fun to me from that age.
>tfw not born in the mid to early 60s
January 86 here.
The perfect age to experience the rise of Vidya from 8-Bit onwards, the rise and fall of the internet, and the decline of western civilization.
>>387030313
the best part of being born in 1986 was that i was 11 year old when FF7 was released
11 year old me will never forget FF7, i don't even remember how i got it but even before getting the game, i got a guide of FF7 that had a bunch of screenshot on it and i was like "wow this game looks like the shit!"
i actualy still have that guide as a memento, maybe i should post a photo
from gaming experience perspective I agree
We got all the big steps. We embraced Mario64, Morrowind, Mario Kart 64, Final Fantasy 7, Zelda OoC, Half Life, Metal Gear Solid in the perfect age for each game.

How do you do fellow 30+y/o?
it was great being alive for the original pokemon boom. kids these days have no clue how big pokemon used to be.
we also got tmnt and power rangers.
it was also nice basically starting gaming when snes vs genesis were at their height. plus most people still had a nes so its not like we missed out on on the generation entirely.

desu
>>387031706
I too know that joy.
I just got so wrapped up in it and spent the whole summer going through it. And then I dscovered the porn, thanks to this issue of OPSMUK,
Okay, fellow old farts - when did gaming take a turn for the worse?
I think it was about 2001. That was the beginning of the end. Not coincidentally it was the year the Xbox was launched. Gaming got huge, publishers got more power, DLC started being a thing, games had to appeal to a much bigger market, etc.

when did the wii officialy die...
>20 october 2013
that
86'er here, I still live with my parents and am a substitute teacher who doesn't want to be a teacher but can't find anything else to do with his BA in English.
The only things I enjoy anymore are vidya and lifting, but I don't even have the right hardware for current gen stuff and I can barely afford my gym membership. Sometimes I think, I should just take the eternal slumber and be done with my pointless existence.
>>387032156
Also, we got to live through this.
Can you imagine such a thing today?
>>387032281
PS3 / 360 - Games could now be released unfinished and patched up later. DLC became a big thing and pre-order stuff too.
It's cliche but the rise of the TRIGGERED movement too.

Around the 360 and the PS3, not because they were bad consoles but because normies started coming in droves, now every single game has to be the most bland, broken and semi-intellectual to be sold to normies, no more experimenting, no more interesting stuff, everything has to be relatable to real life. Also developing games became much more expensive, meaning publishers are not willing to gamble with games anymore, so if one game like CoD sells millions every single game has to sell like CoD or is a failure. And honestly the worst offender is the online capabilities of the consoles, this meant that publishers could sell a broken and buggy product with the excuse of patching it later.
Honestly all of this shit could be avoided if people stopped buying games day 1.
>>387032753
Fuck off, the PS3 was great. N64 is what dragged in the normies.
>>387031897
my mother just called me ungrateful and I called her a pathetic whore
I hope alzheimer's gets her soon
>>387032828
I'm not calling the consoles bad you retard.

become an english teacher in japan
assuming you REALLY lift and have a nice body+face, you will drown in school girls which will boost your selfesteem
>>387031167
same, I could've had a silver lining this year by having sonic mania released on my birthday, but I always seem to get fucked over by the 29th when cool shits coming out
>>387032857
maybe you are ungrateful
>>387032934
Interesting idea, I might try it out. I'm assuming I'm gonna have to learn Japanese first.
12/12/86
Got a 64 on launch day. 10 delivered to my town. 3 to INDEX where my auntie worked. I remember playing Mario 64 on a Japanese import before the UK release and it blowing my fucking mind.
>>387031897
Only thing I hate about my life is my job
>>387033059
and maybe she's a pathetic whore
>>387033103
Fucking hell. Index is a blast from the past.
Got my Tamagotchi from there.
>>387033186
Yeah. 10 delivered to Blackpool and I got one. Must have cost my parents a shit ton.
Index was argos jr
I think the best thing about it all was living through the time when games were Games, and didn't have to pretend to be anything but.

west-germany oldfart reporting in for nostalgia Shoppingmall
I miss you Blockbuster.
>>387034270
I don't. Fuckers killed the NC-17 rating, censored some controversial horror movie scenes, and made renting a lot more stressful with late fees.
