>want to play vidya professionally?
>have to stream and make a name for yourself among the thousands of already established and competent streamers first
>that means spending tons of money on a good mic, making sure your rig can handle streaming, good internet, etc
>once you finally catch the eye of some garbage third worlder team you have to prove you are worth keeping
>sponsors dictate you cant play anything but the game you are playing competitively because you are not a legend or well known enough to have a following if you play other games
>if its a team game like dota 2 or overwatch have to work with dipshit teammates
>fighting games are poverty tier
>your twitch skills will never compete even with aging quake pros

Its just not worth it. If you ever thought about being a pro gamer or streamer or youtube person but have yet to do it, you missed the boat already. And even a good chunk of people who started at the right time, intentionally or not, are not relevant.

The ending segment was lame as hell, but was worth it for the shot of Kuroky tearing up as the entire arena chanted his name and his teammates embraced him.

Matumbaman was unintentionally hilarious, too
>>Wins 10 million dollars
>>"How do you feel?"
>>"Empty, like I have no purpose now that the game is over"

If they had cut the camera when kuro put his hood up and walked out it would have been 10/10.

Machine showed why they pay him, we actually got immediate reactions from the players as they left the booths this year, "Liquid are no longer doing it, Liquid have DONE it", etc.

Fuck day9, I've got nothing against the guy buy he was atrocious and the knowledge we could have had blitz up there the entire time instead of him was annoying. He's coming into a scene with more than a decade of history the he completely ignored for his entire career up to this point because starcraft is dead and nobody wants to watch him play hearthstone at rank 10.

Day9 is a very well-known and respected figure in esports that has been around for a very long time, but he is not a Dota player. Why on earth would 300k people want to watch a guy who currenrly plays hearthstone at a casual level try and analyze a game as complex as dota when he can't even bother to pay attention to what heroes have been picked and banned so far in a draft that he's loudly talking over actual pros during.

His persona is so unbelivably fake and gratingly transparent, it's ok day9 this is dota, you don't have to fake laugh every ten seconds and pretend you're on ESPN.

I miss Bruno, damn bastard had to go and get hired by valve so he can't appear on camera anymore since he'd represent the company directly.

PPD and Blitz ended up doing his job for him whenever they were on the panel because they aren't awkward and also actually know what the fuck they're talking about, Blitz has both casted and played professionally (Albeit in Korea, still counts though) and PPD is a TI winner, was considered the best drafter in the world at one point, and is currently CEO of Evil Geniuses.

If they were dead set on having him, they should have had him on the floor with Slacks interacting with the crowd and teams, while the adults could actually talk about the game
>>
>>387004363
50 people beat the bot in seatle. They just had to go out of the box.
The bot used machile learning, he is very limited by the expirences he already had. And it was just 1v1 SF with neither!runes bottle and neutrals. It was a simpler mode than the official 1v1 mode, and a single hero. Normal dota is many orders of magnitude harder for a team of bots to git gud.

Since video games are fun and students have a fuckton of time to play them you really need to dedicate 8-12+ hours a day to a single game for a good amount of time to become a pro player.

I got addicted to Dota 2 while in uni, I played about 8 hours a day and I was matched with pros often back when the highest anyone really got was 6k, I was 5.5 at the time.

All I remember is getting flamed every game for refusing to pick normal heroes, I had to play whatever was considered the worst hero in each patch since I wanted to humiliate my opponents as much as possible.
>>
Esports is a bubble. By the time you've climbed to the top of the latest big game, it won't be a big game anymore or the bubble will burst. Dota is already in decline, literally 350k viewers for the GF on twitch.
>>
>>387005480
You are right but its still just a dumbed down 1v1 sf mid. Normal dota has just too many variations to be trained.
>>
>>386998991
>why dont you play video games professionally?

>>387002969
Yeah, Day9 felt really miscasted as a host at TI. I watch his new videos now and then still and think he can be pretty entertaining, but his understanding of the game and knowledge of events in the DotA scene up until now are just way too lacking. Maybe if he had played the game for another year or something so he doesn't say too much nonsense. Felt like some of the people got really tired of him sometimes up there, and he didn't get involved in discussions and analysis for the games because he just doesn't have anything to contribute. You could see it in how the other guys barely ever turned to face him when giving their own input, or asking him questions.

Looool /v/ is legit trash at any sort of multiplayer game, leave them to their hentai rpgmaker games and their cumstained lives with their waifoos.
>>
>>387003303
Anon, why did you post a Guilty Gear player in reaction to Street Fighter?
>>
Cause when I want to play multiplayer games I want to relax and let the games go as I play. I play insurgency nowadays and I have good matches and bad matches. I dont see much fun in playing an esports game hardcore.

Its like comparing floyd mayweather to nick diaz. Floyd only cares about the money and ruined boxing, nick diaz cares about his brother and fighting but UFC kicked him out. I respect nick diaz a lot more than floyd mayweather.

Can't wait until openAI takes it all next year and people will start to realize that Pro Gaming is a waste of time due to diminishing returns for the time invested. The optimal amount of gaming is less than 30hrs a week.
