Rance 1 and 2 have sort of 80s adventure game appeal, but are fucking terrible JRPGs. Check out the Digest versions.
Rance 3 is worth playing if you are interested in the lore of the series. Though it is arguably the worst looking game in series, since they were trying to make serious looking game with expertise they had in last two.
Rance 4 is totally worth playing. It builds on lots of characters, looks pretty nice and plays decently.
Kichikuou Rance is sort of beta-Sengoku as far as gameplay goes. If you can stomach 90s-grand strategy, it's totally worth going for.

Other that that, check out Toushin Toshi 2, it's a classic for a reason. And it looks fucking amazing, pic-related.

Yes to both. The 3DS version is the remake of the second game, and changes things quite a bit. Alicesoft, and TADA in particular helped with the developement so it plays better than most Imageepoch games, and has fair amount of changes and improvements to original. Granted, lack of porn makes the world lose some of the original brutality(shit gets dark in PC version), but I'd say changes make up for it.
If you can read moon, it's definitely the version to go for.
