Players started realizing that Riot doesn't actually care about balance, just "the meta". If something isn't meta, it's shunned and forgotten by devs and players alike. Unique characters are considered sub-optimal, and playstyles that aren't currently considered meta are lombasted by the community.

Now, fixing this shit? I say, stop piling more crap on top of the game, and just focus on polishing everything that's currently in it. Make more characters viable, focus on the whole cast, not just a few. Right now, the game is pretty much a spinning door of rigid Melee-esque metas, when it could be so much more expansive than that.
