What did you guys think of the Pointless?
I thought it was a pretty good hook, I liked the openness of it although it lacked a little agency and there wasn't much decision making or strategy to be done.
Really loved the interactions.

I liked some of the boss fights a lot though. The combat wasn't great but moments like the pacifist guy refusing the fight for awhile but finally caving in were pretty good. Also Big Lincoln.

Consensus is that it's pretty good, I thought it was pretty good.
Some people don't like the fact the protagonist doesn't have a strong hook or tragic backstory a la Brad but I never found that to be a problem. It's more focused on the world than its characters, not to say there isn't the strong characterisation there was in the mainline games but you'll be more hooked by what's going on around you than your party's motivations.
I suppose it paints a much darker Olaf rather than telling a darker story, the atmosphere is definitely a huge highlight.
It's also more linear than the Painful, you won't be doing much backtracking and there's no real hub, but each screen is pretty packed with stuff to do and indoor locations that loop back after a long detour and so forth.
Main problem I had is that it's pretty slow to start, first third of the game is set on Garbage Island and feels like the heavy-handed fanfiction love letter you probably expect it to be before it finally hits its own stride later on, worth it though in my opinion.
I got a good 6 hours out of it I think, probably more with reloading parts and all that, I'd say give it a go.

I really love how they made the the boss in this game unnerving and the ost that comes with the mutants fits. You get all these high note soundtrack but when you touch a mutant, it just goes to this.

Yeah, now that you mention it, there weren't that many mutants in Pointless. If anything, they served to make the new villains look tougher. I really hope the project doesn't die. I was really looking forward to finding out what the hell drives the Infinity Franchise, as well as what kind of place the city is, but then the game ended because I forgot it was unfinished.

Another thing is that whoever wrote the dialogue in Pointless did a really good job at replicating the style of speaking in Lisa. I dunno what that is exactly, but it's a strange mix of careful-yet-eloquent speech and swearing that's very recongizable.

The infinity franchise is legit the most interesting story beat I've seen in a game in months. The way it goes from just a box of jerseys you see in front of the bar to completely wiping out the area by the end of the chapter was so well done. It was also ambiguous enough that it could be something supernatural or just some mass hysteria that just takes advantage of olethe's already fucked inhabitants.
