The base class Arcanist is two summons. A yellow (tanking) and blue (ranged DPS) Carbuncle. Summoner updates them to two bosses (Titan for tanking, Garuda for ranged) and summoner gets a third, Ifrit (melee DPS). They do look nothing like the bosses and indeed like shit. They are small crystal creatures with the vague shape of those they represent.

However you can change them into Carbuncle. There's even a red one. Also a small Bahamut that uses his model is aother summon, but will leave after a few seconds.

I was a "casual" crafter in HW, I only leveled my crafters for interior decoration, and I never liked how bullshit RNG was back then. I had AF2 on my CRP, but I mostly worked on decoration and popular materials for easy cash. The popular Rath's macro was able to hit 100% HQ but relied on RNG skills to do so (lots of 90% chances), so it was possible to miss that last 10% on the hardest recipes, and XIV's NQ/HQ calculation fucking love that 10%. Everyone on my FC cried about it so I decided to stay as a decoration crafter.
But right now you can easily 100% stuff even with shit melds thanks to these new skills. Prudent Touch and the new Manipulation are OP as fuck.

Do only tanks/healers get tentacles in O2S or one DPS (so Healers + OT + DPS) too? Never had it so I wouldn't know. There's always one saying "DPS tentacles N/S/E/W" so I guess that means yes.

Also is it just me, or is no group ever on the same page with positions? Ignoring tentacles, I see people in a group always:

I just got unlucky with that first group, I guess. Maybe the fact that spent the spent the first couple weeks of SB finishing up ARR and HW meant I was generally placed with other new players. I came back to it a couple hours later and the new group cleared Shinryu on the second pull.

You can just wait for them to fly away and soak the ultimate as a tank or shield through it as a healer. As DPS you can kill Suparna or Chirada before they get that Vulnerability Down as it's not immediate.

Not all of the old Primals can be beaten alone even when doing them unsync so take a friend or two with you. Some can still be tricky like Ifrit where you have to watch your DPS. Depending on how you are geared, you could all go in as tanks and work towards the tank mounts and your horses.

And that GM sounds like me, I couldn't be bothered to play catch up in HW. I wanted to do more in Stormblood but a few days ago I threw away my remaining raid tokens as the thought of doing those repeatedly / weekly sent a shiver down my spine.

Yeah that's what I was thinking was the case since my only other times using pots were as MNK/NIN in Creator. The other tank in my group is a WAR who doesn't use pots so I didn't really have anyone to correct me on that front but seeing how this group has only been active for two weeks now I suppose it's better we got shit like this figured out earlier rather then later, should help with ExDeath and Halicarnassus being a little less dicey going forward now that I'll know which pots to really bring.
