I might try to get back into it, I bought NMS during a deep sale, here are my genuine criticisms of it.
Overall a 3-4/10 right now. It's major problem is that Hello Games has no clue how to make an open world style game with multiple objectives. You will be begging for the Ubisoft checklist stuff after a few hours with NMS. The game is torn between being a chill space adventure and something where it constantly feels the need to give you something to do.
The game is honestly exhausting to play. About a million goddamn UI elements pop up or sound off at any given moment telling you about something. There are meters constantly ticking down whenever you explore, so you better get running asshole, and find those elements to refuel everything. The UI for Mouse and Keyboard is one of the most unintuitive things I've ever played, and it makes every simple action seem like it has completely unnecessary steps. The inventory space is a constant limiter, and again, in a completely pointless way. It doesn't add tension, it's just annoying. The game feels tedious to play, without any real reason or justification.
There was a moment where I flew in on a planet classified as a 'Paradise' type and started skimming over small lush islands separated by a vibrant blue sea, and the intent of NMS clicked with me. But I just don't think that the base gameplay loop is good enough or engaging enough.

The updates so far have been great and Hello Games in my opinion have largely won back respect. However for me I still want the promised clan battles and over all the deeper warfare as shown prior to the games release. If they finally update NMS with those aspects, It will be a 10/10 for me.
