Holy shit this game is deep

It isn't uncommon for the start of a game to be a slow burn, there's nothing inherently wrong with this. Many of my favourite games took a while for me to get into.

Pisses me off WAY more with shows than with games. Dude I watched three episode of your generic shitty flavour of the month anime about half naked school girls fighting monsters, if you tell me one more time about how I didn't even really give it a chance and it gets super good in just a while, I swear to GOD boi.

With games, I can see how depending on the genre and the way it's set up, sometimes you really need to give the mechanics a less-than-shallow look to really get a feel for what it's like. Sometimes it's because the devs are retarded, like, yeah you need to play Asscreed 3 for probably 3 fucking hours before it starts to not be shit, and that's not a good thing and I don't blame anyone for quitting, but that's just how it is. It's an open world game with lots of autonomy, even if it takes a while to let you know.

But when it's, say, a new fighting game. You can of course just say you don't like fighting games in general, but if you try it for 2 minutes, mash some buttons, conclude it's bad, well, your opinion is not all that well informed. You didn't even really scratch at the gameplay at that point.
