Generally, yeah. Don't get baited into tight areas with a Scorch. Instead try and lure them out into more open areas. Once you have space, just circle around them whilst using your shotgun. Save your phase shift for when you see them winding up to use their Core.

I tried Scorch and I really like the concept but I kept getting fucking bodied because of how hard it is to deal with pilots and how hard it is to close gaps and shove your shield down their throat. Is it any good now?

Scorch heavily relies on aim and positioning.
Really good at crowd control, pilots can be picked off by just holding up the shield and pointing it near their direction.

It'd be wise to put on the extra boost because he's fucking slow and braindead ronin kamikaze attacks happen often these days. You can still hit other titans from far away if your aim is true enough, I wouldn't suggest trying that against a Northstar, though.

SCORCH main here. Been using Wildfire launcher to augment my playstyle. I like to hang back as Scorch and pepper people with fire; when they encroach, lay down fire in the lane and run away.
