My honest opinion about the game is that it's enjoyable but flawed like thee rest of Taro's games. However it it MASSIVELY overrated here and just about everywhere else because the majority of the player-base have not played a single Taro game before. I really wanted to like Automata. I loved Nier, not for gameplay but for the music and the characters. I couldn't get into Automata's characters, I didn't care about any of them. I also thought the combat in Automata was pretty shitty. Nier's combat wasn't good, but I never got annoyed while playing it, and some of the bosses were actually cool. But Automata's combat just felt tedious. I was happy playing as 9S so I could just hack everything and kill them quick. Music was great though, and I do like ideas and concepts in the game itself, personally I was just disappointed with it.

It was a fantastic game that does a whole lot right. The optimization was a bit shit, the combat was braindead with the lifesteal chips and the heals on kill, but it really is a unique game.

Plus very few games do soundtracks like Nier Automata does, with multiple tracks of the same song that change based on the action of whats happening on screen, hell the 8bit versions of the songs while hacking were great too.

It's a fucking shame that the kikes at Square Enix didn't give Taro enough funding for the planned "Witcher" style DLC that would have expanded the world and story so much more.

Yes it was shit, it only got "high" reviews because reviewers had heard Taro games have a cult following and since they had never played any of his games before they thought his surface level pseudo intellectual shit storytelling was somehow deep, and so in an attempt to look learned and cultured they scored it highly. That and the weebs got suckered in by 2Bs ass.

Went in blind and finished it yesterday. Currently I'm underwhelmed. Not that it was outright bad, but there was too many little issues that compounded together make the overall experience mediocre.

Gameplay wise, it felt finicky. Outright unplayable on kb/m and there was a certain unresponsiveness on a gamepad. Graphically, I experienced shit disappearing and other anomalies.

The story and the circumstances around the drama seem forced or at least unexplored. It almost felt like the aesthetic and the choices of words like "android" and "virus" were chosen for cool factor rather than something to actually thematically explore (as much as I love 2b's butt, the frilly attire makes no sense given the setting and detracts from it. This issue is worse (or better) given the potential for clothing damage and how the resistance camp is presented).

There's also plenty of little nit picky things like "lul, you can't melee anymore" ending with a main boss being stabbed that irk me.

The music is literally the only thing that compelled to keep playing beyond the first ending. I guess the tower was also pretty neat, but there's a whole lot of meh until that point.
