Let's sit down and have a rational discussion about what went wrong with this game.
>>
Well to start Geoff Keighley baited everyone into thinking it was Half-Life 3
>>
>>386833063

Really it didn't seem like anything went wrong in the game itself but I think it was not marketed right.
>>
>terrible marketing
>save destroying bugs
>no NG+
I riked it though

>It's another muh dead space station with aliens and some shitty twist as plot
Gameplay is actually cool, but I don't know how they could fall into this meme again.
>>
>>386834558
>>It's another muh dead space station with aliens and some shitty twist as plot
It´s literally nothing like Dead Space what the hell are you talking about.
>>
It was okay. I bought it on release.
Expected Bioshock in space and got exactly what I wanted.
I'd say it's worth half price, not full.
>>
>>386833063
Enemies are such a bitch to deal with that at no point of the game you feel like you're growing as a character. Aliens kick your ass at the beginning of the game and they proceed to do so until the very end. It's a System Shock game, damn it, not Dark Souls.

Marketing
Story
Too few weapons
Shit ending
They didn't incentivise using the psychic powers
Pointless male/female choice
Trash enemy design
>>
>>386834732
I used the wrench and they get stunned on the group for a very long time.
Is it a glitch?
>>
I liked it

reading peoples emails was fun
>>
>>386833063
>what went wrong with this game.
It wasn't as good as System Shock 2, that's about it.
>>
Really liked it but the big flaw for me was that the game just isnt that scary once you get used to the mimicry at the beginning.
>>
>>386833063
Blandest and most unoriginal enemy design in video games. Nothing is less scary, nothing is less original than black goo monsters.
>>
>>386833063
Not enough marketing. If it wasn't because people talked about it on /v/, I wouldn't have known it had even released yet.

A shame because is GOTY.
>>
>>386833063
Marketing. Otherwise, it's pretty good.

But anon, isn't gray goo scary???
>>
Does this game have inventory management in it or is it unlimited?
>>
>>386833063
It's a boring corridor shooter with a physics gimmick, that came out when 50% of the market was the same thing.
>>
>>386833063
I really liked it. I ended up playing my first time never taking alien powers so I got the best ending. Then I played again doing all the alien stuff.

The foam gun goo needed to be allowed to stack on top of each other like we see commonly in the game, like it's used as a replacement wall.

yes
>>
The combat is just atrocious, just fucking TERRIBLE.
The story is dumb, goes nowhere, and has an awful ending.
Everything else is quite alright, but I really do wish that either the game's combat was less terrible, or that they let you have better ways to deal with combat outside of just direct confrontation or running away. Better stealth systems, better magic powers, more traps, that kind of stuff.
>>
>>386835056
As a concept sure, as a enemy no
>>
>>386833063
Game is pretty good desu, but my saves get fucked after certain point. Quite disappointing, I was really committed to finishing this one.
>>
>>386835175
So it's closer to System Shock than BioShock I take it?
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS0NtNxlX-s
it's up
>>
They should've made pumping yourself full of psychic powers more meaningful.

As in make the base defence more dangerous (make more powerful defensive systems come online as the game progresses) and eventually make it so that Typhon won't attack you on sight if you have pumped yourself with enough psychic powers.
>>
>>386833063
I remember getting bored with it and using a combination of speed and stealth to rush to the end. I did the same with Crysis 3. I think both games just had weak combat and weak stealth so they seemed pointless to play and thus impossible to enjoy. I like the idea of the game though, much better concept than corridor shootan.
>>
>>386835296
Why should I watch that drivel from a literal who.
>>

This.
>>
>>386834732

The name was wrong. If it was named BioShock 3 it would get 10/10 everywhere and would be hailed as the best game in the series which it would be.

GOTY 2017 though.
>>
>>386835401
>>386835414
Go to bed Matthew, you washed up hack.
>>
It had some truly abrasive audio design, a boring predictable story, and jsut all around wasn't that fun. Bioshock 1 and 2 already "modernized" system shock and were good games, this just felt tedious
>>
>>386835664
When are you planning to rip TW3 a new one?
>>
>>386835767
When Bannerlord releases and you start crying for that one.
Christmas 2017.
>>
>>386834984
This 100%. It's a shame it released to little fanfare in the same year as BotW which will sweep all the GOTYs because people are high on Nintendo finally having a modern (mediocre) game.
>>
>>386833063
Nothing really, it's a solid 6/10 System Shock clone for casuals. Were you expecting some amazing masterpiece or something?
>>
>>386833063
It lacked focus, vision and polish.
Arkane thinks they are the next Looking Glass, but Looking Glass had very specific design focus. Their "everything and the kitchen sink" approach to design means that despite there being hundreds of options for what to do, it rarely is ever "fun"
Dishonored 1, even in the hardest difficulty, is piss easy and not fun unless you imposse challenges to your playthrough (for, exemple, my blink only run was enjoyable). If you don't, you can have fun fucking with the A.I. or doing the "tricks" but that is hardly ever useful when playing the actual game.
>>
>>386834863
My nigga, only fault desu was almost no variety on weapons, but still best game of this year.

>>

They simply don't realize that less is more.

It's not about how much you need to add, but how little. Then you simply polish it.

How many skills did everyone end up with? I crafted neuromods like crazy and ended up with only a little over 50%. I like that the game actually forces you to make a build, instead of ending up good a everything, like so many games with skill trees these days.

Only two things really.
1) It spells things out too much for you. Not everything has to be tagged as a side quests- most things needed to stay as simple environment interactions or exploration rewards. For example, the superfruit in the arboretum or the derelict shuttle. For a good example of how this is done, see Gothic. It would've felt great to find the log from the shuttle pilot, look him up in the registry(which is the first good implementation of quest compass I've seen) and find the ship yourself. As a tagged quest, it feels artificial and takes all the fun out of the exploration.
2) Neuromod fabrication. Another major mistake. Dead space did the same- when you allow the player to purchase upgrade modules, you ensure that they will be maxed out by mid-game, since it's clearly the best use of your resources. Neuromods should've been rewards for exploration and story progression, as in System Shock 2. At the very least, if they insisted on them being purchasable, they should've multiplied the price by, like, a factor of five.
Other than that, I had a great time with this game. Fix these two flaws, and the game would've been spectacular. You'll have to be blind to not admit that this is the best attempt at replicating the Shock 2 formula since, well, Shock 2.
>>
I still haven't properly played this yet. I played it a little when it was cracked but the huge as fuck HUD elements were a bother. Have they patched in options to remove individual HUD elements yet?
>>
For me It was the.lack of content.

4 enemy types and 4 guns is not serious. And this game was basically a dungeon crawlers so It hurt It even more
>>
>>386838187
The vast majority of AAA games released in the past 10 years are downright terrible.
>>
>>386839113
t. started gaming on a PS3 or 360 and fell for the /v/ memeing
>>
>>386833063
>They didn't name it Neuroshock and instead thought that the name of a decade old mediocre FPS and a canceled openworld game (that people are still irate over for some reason) would help bring more sales through brand recognition???
>Content was blatantly cut due to mongoloid playtesters and a rush for release (e.g. the trauma system and disk launcher weapon)
>Infinite free hp/armor/psi refills from operators trivialize resource management
>Generally gives you too many resources if you know where to look and aren't an inept mongoloid like the playtesters or the guy who made this video >>386837270
>The final act of the game is just a bunch of backtracking through cleared areas

Overall I really liked it
