Why would they release a game named after their failed model of development and distribution? There's no way they would name it Half-Life 2: Episode 3 because the game that would come out would have nothing to do with HL2 or episodes for that matter, except for the setting.

You're talking about Half-Life 3, then. HL3 should involve a new setting, maybe several years in the future again, like between HL1 and HL2. New characters and all.

But The HL2 story arc still needs a conclusion, and Ep3 was supposed to provide it. It's the game everyone waited for so long, and some still do. HL3 would be nice, sure, but we all know it would not be the conclusion HL2 story deserves.

That's why I think they should release Ep3, finish the HL2 story arc, and then start working on HL3 with a clear conscience.

Would you not agree with such line of thought? I believe I am very much correct on this.
